Place your bets...Hulk
« on: May 19, 2003, 10:09 AM »
No I am not going to smack off about my mad skillz, but...

Walked into Wal-Mart this morning and was greeted by a wall of green figures, there are two different ones and like the ones at Target and TRU appear to be going nowhere fast.

How long before Wal-Mart finally gets rid of these Pegwarming radioactive figures (I still see Grinch figs at TRU every year)

They will probably land up in the bargin bin sometime after the movie is released. I find that when a movie is going to be released, stores stock up on the figures for promotion but if they don't sell, price slash & they still sit around for months.

The funny thing is there's still a third basic figure assortment that hasn't shipped yet.

Ooh boy, that is what this line needs is more pegwarming goodness

I'm going to guess next summer there will still be Hulk figures around.

The real question here is who will be buying up these figures to add to their collection?

I bought one of the initial three.  And I may buy two more.  There would have to be something really good for me to buy any more than that.

LOL, the funniest thing is almost all of them are the same figure only in purple or blue pants!  Worst toy line ever

I read there will be FIVE assortments of these by the time the movie is released. Yippee.

I'll buy a rotocast Hulk since it's the only one that appears to be in scale with the Marvel Legends figures (of which I own two). Not sure if I'll get the Scowling Hulk or the Cavity Check Hulk. It'll probably depend on my mood.

Those Hulk Fists are hard to pass up. I might need a couple pair of those just for the office. Maybe the restroom. (*Ziippp* CRASH "Hulk smash!")

If I see a Banner figure on clearance I'll pick one up for custom fodder, but the rest of the line is action feature overkill. And I thought Hasbro was bad with Darth Maul figures.
Post sober.

Yeah, unfortunately this looks like a toy line that is going to fail miserably, at least thatt is how it appears at a local Wal*Mart whose figures are already getting dusty. And judging by the trailers I've seen the movie isn't going to fair much better, but that's just my opinion and a whole other thread.

Yeah, this movie is not looking too great based on the trailers I've seen so far (including several during tonight's Spurs/Mavericks playoff game).  When the hell are todays producers, directors, etc. going to realize that the CGI overload is getting to be a total bore.  I'm tired of watching cartoons on the big screen all the time now.  It looks like 90% of the Hulk's movie footage is going to be a CG character.  Looks pathetic if you asked me.  Completely unrealistic and unbelievable.  I'll take Lou Ferigno over this cartoon character any day of the week.

As for the toys - just a solid wall of onmoving (untouched for that matter) green garbage.  So his shorts change color a few times.  Big deal.  Clear some room out for the 2003 Star Wars line that 90% of the population has yet to see!   >:(

I just counted 120 Hulk figures at Wal Mart, every peg full none were sold.  There are only 2 to choose from.  Maybe after the movie these will see a big push but I'm not going to hold my breath

That is way to many Hulk figures. Imagine if every Walmart had that many in each store in your city, you could actually melt down all the figures & make a real life size Hulk figure & still have some plastic left to make Brent a She Hulk figure.   ;D

The She Hulk would sell but the Hulk, he'd be retail death
