EpIII Greatest Battles Collection
« on: April 8, 2006, 11:56 AM »
So, this morning a JD reader sent me an a spy report on a possible wave 2...  and after doing a little digging this morning, I see he got his "inside info" straight from Yoda's News (because what he sent me is basically word-for-word the same thing and it's dated after they posted their news  ::)).

Anyway, here's the info if you haven't seen it already...

"Greatest Hits Breaking News!

Our Bothan Spy reports some breaking news that in late June, the second wave of Greatest Hits figuires will be released. So far nine have been confirmed, all repacks from the ROTS line, and will include the 501st Clone Trooper, AT-TE Gunner, C-3PO, Count Dooku, Blue Royal Guard, Padme, R4-G9, Kit Fisto, and the Preview Wookie Warrior! Most of them were hard to find, so these will be welcome additions to many collections.

**Update! We have confirmed that these will be the only 9 in this wave with the 501st being 2 per case, the AT-TE being 2 per case and the C-3PO being 2 per case, the rest will be 1 per case and make up the 12 total!"

Well, if they are carded on the Saga 2006 Cards like the other wave, I'll gladly buy them.   :)

That's great, great news. I hope it's true, and that it ships in decent quantity.

Now where's the rereleases of the holo versions of Aayla and Plo Koon? I don't even think those exist at all.

Like Ben, I only wish the Holo Plo Koon was in here.  I'm glad to see 3-PO and the Tac Ops Trooper (neither of which I have.)

This is good to see.  Although I am a little puzzled about a couple of them... here's my thoughts, I'll be interested to see what you guys think too.

Tactical Ops - Sure, excellent choice Hasbro

AT-TE Gunner - Again, a wonderful selection

3PO - I love the figure, but am surprised to see it coming as the Endor one is so similar

Dooku - Don't need it, but this figure does deserve to be repacked, it's excellent

Preview Wookiee - Gotta love the Wookiee, might be nice to see a slight paint variation on his fur

Padme - Nothing wrong here, but at the same time I want to see a "new" Padme

Astromech - Eh.... not bad but I don't need more of this one

Kit Fisto - Good Jedi figure, but not needed for me

Blue Guard - Yes!  Keep these good army builders repacking

So... this makes me wonder though - will there be a "variant" red guard again?  I think it will be in there, but just not pictured yet.  You know how they are weird like that regarding this figure for whatever reason.

I think the ratio of this should be as follows -

Tactical Ops x 2
AT-TE Gunner x 2
3PO x 1
Dooku x 1
Preview Wookiee x 1
Padme x 1
Astromech x 1
Kit Fisto x 1
Blue Guard x 1
Red Guard x 1

 :)

This can't be right... figures people actually want? Good case ratios?

I just wish it was ALL of the final 5 in there. Replace Padme with Holo Aayla, Wookiee with Heavy Wookiee Gunner, Astro with R4-P17, and Kit with Holo Plo Koon perhaps?

I'm kinda peeved to hear about this   >:(

Granted these are some of the better figs, but I thought I was done with ROTS, now I have to start all over again with the new cards?  Will they eventually re-release the entire line?

SLOW DOWN HASBRO!

I miss the good ol days of POTJ.  Didn't have this onslaught of stuff as we do with this line.

We'll never have that figure. Unless they pull off another Assualt of the Jedi Temple Battlepack.
I remember my dream now.

That's the reason it's a lot easier (and less stressful) being a loose collector!   ;)

Couple more thoughts: the 80+ figs we heard about?  For sure now, if you count the H&V figs.  And there won't be any 'new' Padme, watch, because now they've got her covered.   :(

And I agree that the final 5 should have been included in this.
