The R2 appears to be maybe the Commtech R2 though if that's of interest...

You think?

I'm gonna say it's a repaint of the 2004 Saga Jabba Artoo, which itself was a repaint of the 2001 POTJ R2-Q5.

Ah yes, I was going by the feet photo alone...  There's no restraining bolt though so it's definitely not the 99 sculpt... You're right Matt it's probably the R2-Q5 figure...  I wonder if it'll have the pinhole in the top and be the Bar2-D2 instead?

Definitely  not what I thought at first.

Padme sucks, 3P0s the wrong color & R2's not  the G9 sculpt. :-\ The droids are still cool.

I am not sure what Hasbro was thinking about Padme. I hate pre-posed figures.

Basic articulation huh? No swivel arms or ball-joint shoulders, that IMHO is the basic standard nowadays. (Garindan, Hem, Gargra,etc.. all had it)

So basic articulation is SA now? ;)

Don't get me wrong, I think the complete lack of articulation on Padme is highly disappointing, but the one thing that keeps coming back to mind is that this (supposedly) was at one point going to be part of the "Overpriced Target Exclusive Figure in Fancy Packaging" assortment, meaning it would have been 14 dollars for a single underarticulated figure with a cloth cape.

At least that's how I'm rationalizing my level of disappointment with the figure right now.  I'd rather pay 20 bucks and get an underarticulated Padme, 2 seemingly cool looking new droids, and 2 droids I already have multiples of than just pay 14 and get one underarticulated Padme.

Either way, the Padme still looks to suck. :)

To me there is no "basic" articulation anymore.  When I say basic it's down to the old 6 point standards of yesteryear that Hasbro will shock the **** out of you and go back to now and again (Momaw Nadon anyone?).

The true standard SHOULD be the Death Star Gunner's articulation level...  Sometimes w/out the ball/socket shoulder joints even (I'm flexible).  That really ought to be the line's minimum though barring a figure restricted by a skirt piece or whatnot.  Padme's a huge disappointment to me, but there's some customizeability there...  Still disappointing though.

Spotted today at Target in Costa Mesa or Santa Ana not sure where the border is.  Anyway it looks okay just like everybody says Padme sucks R2 might as well give him to your neighbor kid same with 3po-not sure about the legs but it's a ROTS version.  Maybe it's the discoloration in the legs that make it look different from ROTS legs I don't know.  The only reason to get this pack is for the Cham. droids in my opinion, but $20 for 2 driods is a little steep.

Did you spot them, or someone else JP?  If you did, can you snag a photo?

Saw them personally Jesse, though I don't have a Dig camera.  It was hard to tell with the articulation on the leg for the Cham driod.  The joint closest to the claw tip looks moveable which I guess would be the "wrist."  But the joint at the "elbow" doesn't look moveable.  And the "shoulder" joint looks ball jointed.  Looks like a descent droid but still for $20 for 2 & 2 rehashes and an "all new"=all crap sculpt of figure we all wanted I think I'll wait for clearance.

Here's a nice image of one that Tenike1 found at Target from what I hear -

Looks like I'll be getting at least two of these sets.  I think it's one of the best battle packs to date!
