Very excited about the concept figures! Chewbacca should be rather fine,i've always rather liked that initial design.

My money will be going on concept ahead of EU, although i'm not an EU hater on principle...i just find it visually so divorced from George, Ralph and joe's vision that it always seems like a different gallaxy or parralel universe - taking it's cues from D & D and modern star treck.

I can't wait to pick up at least 1 each of these. I, too, love the concept art and think it would be a great addition to the regular line. I would definitely be interested in concept figures if they made these a regular thing The downside is more figures to buy...

These aren't concept figs, they're from the comics...and there's blue shadow painted onto the figure.

Yea, these aren't Concepts, but Marvel Comics repaints... which would explain why the paintjobs are so colorful - notice the Stormtroopers eyes are RED.

Did anyone read that the concept figures are going to be from McQuarrie's work? I hope that they do the Darth Vader and Baba Fett along with some of the other cool McQuarrie concept art.

Hasbro is putting out EIGHT McQuarrie concept figures next year - one in each of the first eight waves of figures released in '07.  The Stormtrooper will be one of them, and will be re-released with a partially different paint job.  They didn't specify any details beyond that, but when I harrassed them at their booth later on, and said that Vader, Chewie, and the Droids better be in the remaining 7, they said those would seem like some pretty obvious choices there, especially the Vader.

So Vader is a given.  Those other three are probable.  Who's that leave that's still cool, besides maybe Fett?  They unfortunately seemed to hint at the fact that these may be short packed/chase figures, so cross your fingers that the resounding "BOOs" hit home, and they change their minds before these great figures hit retail pegs.

I think this was actually all MY doing though, based on this news post that I just put up on the main page on Wednesday:

Quote
JD pal Deanpaul sends word along that everyone's favorite Star Wars conceptual designer and artist, Ralph McQuarrie, has just launched a brand spankin' new "official" website, with all of his amazing work from Star Wars and elsewhere on it, including some never before seen images. Check it out right here! It appears that there's also the early makings of a McQuarrie eBay store as well. Now let's hope this will finally inspire Hasbro to pimp us a few more concept figures based on his early ANH designs...

Somewhere yesterday MisterPL must've had one helluva big grin on his mug...  ;)

Despite the fact that I'm not high in Concept figures, I think they are totally appropriate for '07 and being handled well.
