I personally love the idea.  The only thing I'd change is call them either a Security Force or Patrol Team rather than Police.

I'm with Chewie - I think that a Security Force is a little better idea.

We could then use storm/clone trooper combos as well.

I thinkthat we should wait and see who's story gets chosen because I wrote one and I had a very specific idea.

I know I haven't posted any customs yet, but I really like this idea since I getting ready to start working on my own Security Force for my own planet that I came up with. I finally got all the parts I needed to make members of the planet's Security Force and now I also got a few plain white clones to customize into my own legion. My planet's name is Oktooween and the clones stationed there will have a black/orange paint scheme. The Security Force figures will be based off the Cloud Car Pilot figure with Madine arms, a different helmet, and a few add ons here and there.
The Force is strong in this one,... too bad his action figure sucks.

I had an idea for a Security Force using Captain Typho torso, Captain Panaka arms, Count Dooku legs, and some kind of other helmet. I am not sure what it will look like though. I don't have photoshop so I can't really put the pics together.

I think it's a great idea. But I have something to comment:

If the "winner" of the design contest will be the prototype for all of the securtiy force team dudes, we should think about using parts that don't need TOO much modding, parts that can be found easily and parts that can be used to army build these guys. By the looks of it, this project is going to be huge so we will need HUGE numbers of army builders I think.

Oh, and I don't think I 'll have time to participate and enter a custom, but I might find the time to doodle a design for one of these guys, is it ok if I just post a drawing when it's done?

Well, this sounds like a great idea, and an effective way to begin building up figs for the UGP.

I agree with Kit Fisto here, we would need a base fig as our security member with a set paint job and colors so we don't run into huge discrepancies with the security force.
My whole expanse...I cannot see...

I have started one of these and I am using parts from the imperial guards (red) and cloud car pilot. I don't think that just using 1 base figure is a good idea, especially for those that are going to make a squad. Using a long ladder is good as long as you have enough rungs... sorta speak.. I am stocked about this project as I like having fringe characters to break up the mundane.. I will submit my entry even if it is agains't the jedi councel ( my qui-gon jinness) ;D
