That's pretty cool! My only suggestion would be to paint the white guns.

I'm not familiar with this droid, but it definitely looks very cool.  Are those lollipop sticks for the guns?  Very clever idea!

What book/comic/story/etc. does this droid appear in, by the way?

Those were the things shooting missles at the Galactic Marine's vehicles on Mygeeto in Revenge of the Sith during the execution of Order 66. I think there was one or two in the background on Utapau as well.

There are 2 different models one for close combat and one with heavy artillery.The combat one was known as the Octuptarra and the one shooting at the Galactic Marine's Tridents were the Tri Droids.Height is another difference.
Octuptarra Droids were seen on Utapau.
The guns were made from the plastic that holds model parts together.
