What say you Brent on a draft time, oh mighty commissioner?

Same as the league notes say when you click on the yahoo page :P

Couldn't get an earlier suitable time, so it remains this Friday night at 10:30 PM central and it's a live, online draft.  Could still use a team or two more if anyone else is interested.

I'm being a prick and retaining the settings I mentioned with the following:

LW 2
RW 2
C 2
F 1
U 1
D 4
G 1
B 4
IR 2

So 17 rounds for the draft.

90 games per slot as a result of last year's discussions.  That's up and I still remain opposed to it but I think it's a reasonable compromise.

I still can't edit the stats modifiers but plan on setting them as:

G = 1pt
A = 1 pt
GWG = 1 pt (this makes a goal that wins the game worth two overall)
SHG = 1 pt (same here, 2 point goal essentially)
+/- = +1 for +; -1 for - duh.  (I can modify this to 0.5 points if folks want.)
W = 2 points
L = -1 point
SO = 4 points

Sadly yahoo has not modified the goalie position points to allow for goals or assists, so if your guy gets them, you don't.  I did email them about it but never heard back from them.  I'm guessing there are bigger issues to tackle, like discrepancies in fantasy NASCAR scoring.

Draft order is random and decided by the yahoo system about 30 minutes before the draft.  Bring beer, I know I will.

That should work for me.

Also, the scoring works for me too... it doesn't matter to me what the stats we use are, the results will be the same as last year.   8)

Beer... and at 10:30pm, possibly a crying baby as well.   :P

What difference does it make if we have 82 or 90 games per position?  Wasn't it Jason who wasn't liking the game cap how it was?  And isn't he not playing this year?

I don't see any reason to have the extra games.

Not only Jason that made the comments.  It was actually more than a few guys and so long as we change it up front, it matters not really.  And Jason may yet join the league.

Just took a peek (around page 54-55) and the bigger issue was changing it during the season, which we did not.  Looks like Jason, Ryan and Jeff to a much lesser extent were in favor of altering the cap.  Rob and I were pretty adamant about the 82 game limit and Jesse, Scott and Kevin were seemingly less adamant but more on line with the changing the rule two weeks into the season.

If you guys don't have a big problem with it, we'll run at 90 games and see how it goes.

I guess I better take a look through my NHL Fantasy League mag and brush up for the upcoming year.  I'll be there for the draft Friday night, thankfully I don't have to work.  Just to be sure, 10:30pm Central would be 8:30pm Pacific, right?  Since I've moved, I can't keep the whole daylight savings shenanigans straight.  ::)

Regarding the 82 vs 90 game rule, I'm fairly indifferent, so we could run with 90 and see how it goes.

Also, the scoring works for me too... it doesn't matter to me what the stats we use are, the results will be the same as last year.   8)

Let the trash talking begin!  :D

Nice - at 9:30EST the baby will be sleeping and hopefully I'll be drunk.  I really love online drafts, so much better than forum drafting.  I did one with baseball and football this year and they both have run pretty smoothly.  Also opens the opportunity for a bit of trash talking.

Ok then, we'll run the 90 as an experiment at the very least.  Thanks.

Jesse, you're now forever 2 hours post-central.  Meaning yes, 10:30 central is 8:30 Pacific.

Having snooped through last year's online draft, I'm in agreement.  Online is just short, sweet and efficient.  Best part is I don't have to manually enter the damn teams.

Apparently I didn't do too well in my geography class in grade school.  For some reason I had in my head that 10:30CST was 9:30EST, while it's actually 11:30EST (duh)  ::)

Oh well, guess I'll just be drunker.  I might not make the entire thing, but will do the best I can before I pass out and just let the computer handle the rest.

While goofing around on Yahoo waiting for the draft, I realized that your Yahoo Sports profile captures all your past Yahoo Fantasy Sports performances.   :o

http://profiles.sports.yahoo.com/jlsmentek

2005 Hockey Champion
2001 Football Champion
2001 Baseball - 2nd Place
2001 Hockey - 2nd Place
2004 Baseball - 3rd Place

That's right - 5 trophies!  I had forgotten all those old 2001 leagues I played in with my buddies...
