look a LOT closer its pilot obi-wan molded in windu colors! lame and do they even know what samuel l. jackson looks like? they made him perfect in 98!

I agree, the face/head sculpt does not look like Samuel L.  Hasbro just cannot get this right.

I'm looking close as can be, and that's not Pilot Obi-Wan...  Not that I see anyway.

First the boots are a dead give-away that they're Sam Jackson's unique styled footwear and not Kenobi's fairly simple boots.  Next up, the torso is definitely not the same as it's lacking ball/socket articulation completely, so it's obviously an all-new sculpt (or borrowed from some completely separate figure, but I'm thinking new sculpt).

The sleeves, or what you can see extended beyond the outer robe, are concave and billowy.  Obi's are similar, but  not to this extent, and that's definitely new looking to me on Mace....  The tops of the feet feature leather strap looking things that aren't on any other separately sculpted foot as well, so again completely new.

The headsculpt I don't know.  I can't say it's their best likeness but I think they've done far worse in the past, and that this is a passable likeness.  Humans are tough to nail down for any sculptor...  Look how many Han's we have and a lot of people still can't agree which is accurate to Ford.  I think the Jackson sculpt is the prequal version of Han...  Tough guy to get accurate for everyone.  I think it's decent looking myself.  Not perfect, but it works fine for me.

The figure itself though appears to be a 100% all-new sculpt, definitely nothing re-used there that I see.

True Jesse, and its harder for Hasbro to nail Jackson's likeness when they sculpt him with his eyes closed and mouth open!  ;D

I like him. Even if it was jusy a repainted Obi-Wan Body, which it's not, I'd still be excited about this figure. I can agree with the headsculpt, but headsculpts to me are a nice bonus, not the end-all be-all.

His head sculpt is ok, I hope Hasbro re-packs this as much as the ROTS version. Let's see 80 of those ROTS Maces released so far. ;)

It seems that the concept for the ROTS Pilot Obi-Wan was definitely at work here.  It's a great figure and it was extremely well received.  With that in mind I can understand Hasbro using that as a starting point for Mace Windu.

This Mace Windu is obviously a different figure from the ROTS Obi-Wan.  The boots are obviously quite different.  The same goes for the tunic.  It hangs much lower than Obi-Wan's.

As for the face sculpt?  It isn't perfect.  But how many face sculpts over the years have been dead-on?  Especially with the prequels.  There are really only a few figures that I think have captured some of the human characters well.  A couple of the Obi-Wan's have been good, and we've gotten our fair share of Obi-Wan's.  Anakin?  Only a couple have come close to the mark, and that's a pretty low batting average IMO.  Qui-Gon?  Maybe one or two Qui-Gon's have come close to the mark, but for the most part they haven't been great.

When we're dealing with figures of this scale, you're going to have to deal with variations in facial sculpts.  Even though Hasbro might sculpt the heads in a 2X scale and they're working with a face scan of an actor, none of them are ever going to be perfect or APPEAR to be perfect.  I think overall they're much better at capturing droids, aliens and armored characters likenesses when you're working in this scale.

The head sculpt might look a little iffy at this point, but there is no deinying that this will be the best Mace we have probably ever had.

Probably? Probably???

This IS the best Mace ever. Period. Heck, it may even be the best prequel figure ever.

I guess that's just my opinion though. :P

Well...I always reserve judgement until I actually have the figure in hand, but I hear ya, it will definitely be the best Mace yet.

I think that regardless of what the head sculpt on the production piece is like, this will be the best Mace Windu figure that we've been offered.

But here's my question:  they've basically chosen to make a Mace from the duel in Palpatine's office.  It begs the question about when will we get a high quality version of Palpatine to complement this figure.
