Well, looks like Gannon did hurt himself pretty bad. Broken vertebre. Out 6 weeks.

 :'(

So much for having a nifty back up for my back up.  Hopefully McNair comes back in better shape.  Wouldn't be surprised to see him miss at least a week though.  He had his bell rung pretty good. :-\

Just when I thought I finally escaped a weekend without an injured player, seems my TE (the only one on my roster) got hurt this past weekend and is questionable for next week's game. I had to make a move, picking up a TE I've never even heard of.  ::)

I picked the Saints  to get the wild card in their division. The Rams are done.

Well the Bears season is officially over. Though not expected to go far (I had hoped for an 8-8 record), QB Rex Grossman was diagnosed with a torn ACL today and is going to miss the rest of the season. The Bears signed Chad Hutchinson as a backup to new starting QB Jonathan Quinn. But with all the injuries on D and now this, the season is doomed. Well at least I won't have to agonize about picking their opponents to win in my football pool any more. Now if I could only have a good week in the damn pool, I'd be happy.

This is some seriously messed up ****...

36 year old ex-Steeler offensive lineman, Justin Strzelczyk, who played for Pittsburgh throughout the 90's, leads police in a 40 minute high speed pursuit in NY, and dies in a fiery head on collision with a tanker truck.

Damn.   :-\

Today on Dallas sports radio, there was talk of Ricky Williams coming to the Cowboys. The lunchtime guy spent about an hour on it and took calls on it.

Now, I think it's a load of BS, but when I look at the Dallas running game, I must admit, even though the guy's a flake, part of me hopes it happens.

I'm almost positive I heard he can't play this year for any team let alone the Dolphins

Well, the Dolphins would have to be compensated, AND Williams would have to sit out 4 games for being a stoner...like I said, I'm pretty sure it's BS.

I think a 4 game suspension is for 2nd Offenses...I think he had 3 or 4 so I believe the suspension would have been longer

I believe you are right Scott...

They were talking on the radio and according to NFL by-laws, Bongy Williams would have only missed 4 games as a suspension, BUT because he filed retirement papers to try to avoid the suspension, he would now have to serve a 1-year suspension:

Quote
Under league rules, a player in the NFL's drug program faces suspension if he returns in the calendar year after he announces his retirement. If he returns after a year, he faces a lesser suspension.

Williams wants NFL to clarify his eligibility

So, if Ricky comes back before the 1-yr anniversay of his retirement, he faces a larger suspension (likely 1 year).  If he comes back after 1 year has passed from his retirement date, he would STILL have to serve the 4 game suspension for drug abuse that started the whole thing.

Either way, he most likely won't be back in the NFL officially until 2005.
