I doubt we've even got a 3D theatre in Alabama.

My wife and I took our daughter to see Up last night.  We say the 3D version as it was at the right timeslot for us.

I have to say that I enjoyed the visuals in the movie but I didn't love the movie itself as much as I thought I would.  I heard nothing but good things about it and I thought it was just alright.  I thought the characters were good, the animation was outstanding, but something about it just didn't set right for me.  Maybe because it had so many sad overtones.  Not sure.

We caught UP today and it was fantastic.  I had tears running down my face three separate times...yeah, I'm a wuss :'(
We got the DVD for Christmas last week and I again teared up three times.  I saw Frodo on with Conan a few weeks ago and he talked about crying at animated movies and specifically pointed out Up as being one where he balled his eyes out.   :'(

I'll admit I cried several times too. A few friends laughed at the fact until they saw the movie. Shoe is on the other foot now.

Cars 2 Trailer

I know Cars gets a bad rep, but I personally enjoyed it (as does my oldest, it's probably his favorite Pixar movie).  Looking forward to part 2.

You should see it for Michael Caine alone.

It looks like Brave will hit its estimated box office opening weekend mark of at least $60 million. It seems to be stomping out Abe Lincon Vampire Hunter.

Anyone see Brave?

We went this afternoon, and it was very good.  Our daughter loved it, and has been pretending to shoot arrows throughout the house since we got home.  I wouldn't say it is something that "transcends" quite the way the Toy Story movies (and others) did, but it was still great.  It always seems to me, at least for the most part, that Pixar's stuff is just a cut above the other animated fare out there these days.  Plus, as a parent of a daughter, it is always nice to see a "girl power" movie like this too.

Brave was really good.  It is stunningly beautiful.  Strong mother-daughter themes, so I'll bet it will resonate with women and girls more than it does men and boys.
