Even better than that, Proof of purchase points or upc's for a free figure or weapons pack. I missed that whole ebay debactle on hasbro's auctions for Jedi master points. I still save them just in case!

I'd have rathered they saved the coins for the VTSC eventually getting into the POTF realm.

Coins are cool - but not if they just do 12 and package those 12 with everyone.  Each figure should have their own.

Yup. That's definitely the way it should be.

So..... has anyone heard if the coins are gonna be metal??

Cause those pics look like vac-chrome plastic to me.

I haven't heard either, but I thought they looked sort of plasticy as well.

With the price of zinc at an all time high, I wouldn't be surprised if the coins were indeed plastic.

Isn't the price of metal really high right now? I know that it actually costs more than one cent to produce a penny right now. And it costs more than 5 cents to produce a nickel.

I actually am digging the coins irregardless of their material, however when push comes to shove this stuff is a cost...  The folks at Hasbro claim cheap costs, but it's a cost and I think they bite it more thanthey let on sometimes on stuff like this.

I'm a fan of just getting a great figure, none of these gimmicks.  The coins are better than holographic figures and I love the holder for them, but I could do without it all and just get figures that I personally felt were WORTH $7 a piece...

In 2006, Hasbro's not delivered that level of $7 figure quality steadily.  It's been hit and miss at best when you get figures like Jerjerrod, Derlin, etc...  $7 is tough to choke down for those unposeable, under accessorized figures.  I'm warming up to the coins though, at least a little bit.

I like the coin gimmick as well. Especially for us older guys, the coins harken back to those later stages of SW collecting in the 80s. Those original POTF coins had a certain weight and sound to them, hopefully these new coins will play off of that as well.

Those Pics of the first wave do make the coin pack-in look better. I am glad it is part of the packaging design instead of a blob of colored plastic hidden in the back. They are most likely plastic, but I will hold out hope that they used metal. Nothing screams cheap like plastic coins.

If the troopers keep coming out in this quantity and quality through 2007, I will have a small treasure chest of coins.

Yep, I actually like the coins.  I just wish they would include the stands as well.  Oh well, can't have everything for $7 apparently.  I actually like the coin album to.

Hopefully these won't have the same dubious honor of signaling the end of the line. :P
