Oh I'm sure he'd come up with an equally bigoted term.  He's reliable like that.  :)

I just can't believe our software doesn't require us to make a 'part 2' thread when we get to 500 posts on a topic.

I just do that, because it's easier to refer to one post in a 10 page thread, rather than a 500000 page thread (Trust me, I've tried it, it's not fun)

Rebelscum requires it.  500 posts and that's it.  The issue started when they converted their old software to the new software - the old War and Politics (somethingl ike 10,000 posts at the time) wouldn't open.  They blamed it on the new software and started us a new thread from scratch.

And that's been the rule ever since.

The software CAN handle bigger threads - ours in the local DFW section went well over 500 without incident, but for some reason they still insist on making part 3, part 4, part 9 of certain threads.

Baffling.

Well, I don't know much about the software that they're using (UBB) I know alot about IPB, phpBB and SMF (the stuff this site's using), because I've used them all, and I'm OK with vBulletin.

I've never worked with software that's had problems with really long threads, and I probably won't.

For some reason, a thread that contained the pretty awesome news about a terrorist attack foiled was locked.

Apparently, it had no place there.  ::)

What, are you new?  ;D

War and Politcal threads have been banned there for years, Just like they are here, and on most Star Wars boards.

I loved the smugness that Myatt locked it with. Wonder if the bridges had been leading into Canada if he would have left them open?

Not really...

It wasn't a politcs thread, it was a current events thread.
