So why do people at the otheR site seem to think that Zach Galafianakis will be playing Luke Skywalker in the Sequel Trilogy?

I usually look at who wrote the article before deciding if I give it any serious thought.  Tip; I usually skip that author's posts...

When did Mark Hamill become the Unabomber?

After he returned to Kenobi's house and discovered Obi-Wan's anti-technology manifesto.

Well, he did have a lot of time on his hands.  YOU try sitting around in a hovel in the desert for 20 years waiting for a kid to grow up!

Curious to hear what others here think about the Great Carded Palitoy Scandal of 2013.

I just finished the 38 page thread a few minutes ago. I couldn't even begin to dive into the bottomless threads at SWUK.

It is, at the very least, a fascinating yet disturbing read.

Can I get a synopsis because, basically, I don't want to bother reading any of it.  :-\  Lazy I know, but I like any gossip.

A seller from Europe known as ToyToni purchased a large lot of roughly 11,000 unused Vintage backer cards and bubbles 20+ years ago.  Most are dead mint - QC rejections for various minor production errors.  Almost all are Palitoy or German.

Since the purchase he's been assembling C10 MOCs and selling them on his web site as production figures.  For basically 20 years.  He figured out how to manufacture a convincing heat seal.

Somewhere around 1000 of them have been graded by AFA, most 85 or 90.  Some have sold for $1K +.  They were all thought to be genuine until a guy named Joiner posted about the scam to SWFU(c)K a week ago.

So there's tons of fraudulent pieces out there.  The Vintage Palitoy and German markets are going to crater.  AFA lost a ton of credibility.  Dog and cats living together...

I read as much as I could handle. All I can say is I'm glad I haven't spent a lot of money on foreign carded figs.

Thank you, Bill.  That was very succinct and exactly what I needed.

Wow.  Yeah AFA **** the bed there, eh?  Good on 'em as I'm not a fan of theirs anyhow.

That was basically my main takeaway as well, how do you call yourselves an "authority" and let something like this slip past you multiple times over the course of years? Isn't part of being an authority having a comprehensive understanding of the production process and an ability to authenticate actual vintage pieces? Some of those early samples actually looked like they were sealed with a hot iron...ugh.

Not that they are to blame ultimately, culpability rests solely with TT, but they were essentially facilitating the fraud by failing to catch these for what they were. (There seems to be a growing evidence that there are some key details that differentiate these from legitimate Palitoy cards) They certainly did the collecting community a disservice by putting their official stamp of approval on these things. I don't see how they can really have any credibility after this.

Jesus, it is a boatload of dough we are talking about too. I really feel badly for those people who got shafted in this.

Holy crap... glad I just collect modern figures. :P I truly feel terrible for anyone who has invested in these figures. Surely this will decimate interest and values in this aspect of the hobby.

Given the $ involved I wonder if a suit could be opened up on AFA?
