Previews Exclusive Death Star Briefing 7-Pack
« on: July 20, 2006, 10:40 PM »
So...I'm pretty sure I can see at least:

Colonel Henrick Wulff Yalaren
Admiral Motti
Grand Moff Tarkin

I sure hope this is a Death Star Conference Pack

Which would mean we'd probably also get Chief Bast and General Tagge

I'd also be happy with a new Piett and maybe a Needa...that leaves really only the Black Tuniced Officers from ANH to be made

The Officers usually are right up there on the JD Wishlists so they'd be nice to see (my only wish is that it is Yularen and not Thrawn (Puke))

Hope number 2 is that someway somehow, the Death Star Conference Table comes with this set.  I can live without it, but it would kick ass

My hope is that they didn't just stick a new "old Tarkin" head on the old "new Tarkin" body (does that make any sense at all?).

. . .but that looks like what they did.

Oh well.

A re-painted body by the looks of it. Great set though from what can be seen, definately picking up this set!

Me too... although my "if it looks too good to be true" sense is tingling.   :-\

I guess we wait for the other shoe to drop.  It'll suck ass if it turns out to be a EE exclusive for $40 or something.   :P

A re-painted body by the looks of it.

Right.  The EIII Tarkin figure is fine enough, for a figure of a character that makes a two-second, non-speaking cameo in the very end of the film, but the costume is inaccurate to Old Man Tarkin's.  The boots are the biggest difference (anyone have a full-body pic of Old Man Tarkin from the film handy?), but another big difference is in the height--Young Man Tarkin figure is pretty tall, but I believe Peter Cushing was a fairly short guy in real life.  It'd be a shame if that's how they've done a figure that a lot of us have wanted "revisited" for several years now. . .

(And what's with the "no spaces" thing between the punctuation?  For the record:  one space after a comma; two spaces after a period.  Or is that what all the kids are doing these days?  If so, let me start the next trend:  Nospacesbetweenthelettersatall, ever.)

It's a Battle Pack. Hasbro has put new figures in, what, 2 of the 800 Battle Packs they've released? I bet they just repaint the ROTS Tarkin's head grey. :-\

While I'd LOVE for this to be a DS Conference set, I'm thinking that from the similar dressed officers that this is a "Most Important Imperials" set, something with kitbashed/repainted Tarkin, Ozzel, Piett, Motti, and Veers.

Oooh if this is a conference set, this will be a nice set. And if that is a ROTS Tarkin with an ANH sculpted head, a few parts swaps would be in order to make a more accurate ANH Tarkin and then a unique Imp officer. Looking forward to hearing the details on this, my Imperial forces always could use more commanders.

If they make either of these guys (named Praji and Jir) and resculpt Piett, I'd never need another Imperial Officer (unless they **** up Tarkin badly here)

There's another picture around and in that one it looks like 5th figure, all the way on the left, is Thrawn.  So I think that this is just a set of "Imperail Officers" and not a conference scene set.  More like the Astromech packs.

Agian, since I have all of the original releases, this is another big snore.

Thrawn or Colonel Henrik Wulff Yularen. . .

I'm taking Yularen.

If it is Yularen, I wonder which body they chose to use and whether or not they'll fix the color of the pants. ISB personnel wear black pants with a whitish/grey coat.

Oh.  Didn't know that.  Don't follow any of the EU crap, so for all I know, the good Colonel was wearing a pair of cutoffs underneath the table.

(Yes, never-nudes are everywhere--even in the Star Wars universe.)

Guess it could be Thrawn then, but I still hope it's the Wulff Man, because, again, I don't follow any of the EU crap.  Funny how that works.

If that's Thrawn (Corran is right, the ISB should have black pants), then the guy on the right may be Thrawn's right hand man, Commander Palleon, instead of Motti...
