Don't listen to this clown Jeff, especially if you wanna be in the Kubrick "in-crowd" here... Scott's our little Kubrick Princess with his devout love for that lameass Bearbrick bull****, but he's the only one. So if you don't want to fall in with the wrong crowd here, I'd highly suggest you just ignore Scott's antics...
That said, welcome aboard! Good to have another Kubrick newbie in the house, especially since Adam just bailed on us...
Now we've just got to go about getting you and Brian all caught up here!
And yeah, I was buying those Kubrick knockoff sets several years before the official Kubrick line was ever announced. I've got the 3 movie sets, and Carbo Han, but I still need the Death Star Escape set, the Speeder Bike/Biker Scout, and the canned Fett to complete my (OT) collection. I've got a complete checklist on the first page of this thread, and somewhere in that post is a link to stormie's website, where he's got some good pix of all the knockoff sets. If you keep your eyes peeled, you should be able to get a pretty good deal on the regular 3 (ANH, ESB, ROTJ).
Another thing, it can be a little tricky, and probably more expensive, if you try to get things one by one, rather than in complete waves all at once. Unless you can get some good deals for some of the extras these guys around here still have. But I see the first and second waves go for about $45 - $60 sometimes on the 'Bay.
I better just shut up now, 'cause I can go on forever about these cool little guys. Anyway welcome to the coolest collecting club on the net!
