NEW TO THE SITE (BUT NOT TO STAR WARS)
« on: February 7, 2007, 07:39 AM »
Hiya folks, New (old) guy from the UK.
In 1976 I got to work on a new film at Elstree studios UK.
They all said it wouldn't be any good ;D ;D
Well we proved them  wrong and 30 years later we still talk about it.

Oh the film was called Star Wars.. ;D ;D ;D

Hey Harry,

Actually I'm a big fan of getting auto's from the "military" guys in the films so that's interesting man...  Good to have another UK'er aboard too...  Are you a collector?  What brought you this way in forum'ing?  It's good to see you here either way though and hope you're here to hang out and talk some...  Tell us more about yourself if you'd like.

If you've got any questions the staff is pretty accessable.  We've got Toy Fair coming up this weekend so we're going to be hyper busy but still available for sure.

Hope you're well man, talk to you on the boards.

Hiya Jesse,
No I'm not a collector but if I'd have known then what I know now I could have had the biggest collection of Autos. ever.
In 1966 someone ask me to do two days work as a tv extra. I did the two days and stayed in the biz for the next 32 years.
I got to work with the best and had a great working life.
I retired a couple of years ago and now live out in the sticks in a nice house with the woman I married 44 years ago.
Life could not be better.
Last year I did my first ever Star Wars signing and had a great day out and met up again with some friends from 1976, the year we did Star Wars at Elstree studios...

Autographs would've been great but the news on the props of the original Star Wars is that they were pretty easy to pilfer (or outright thrown out)...  You could've had one hell of an amazing prop collection. :)

Still though I'm sure you probably worked at some point with Peter Cushing...  That's the single autograph from Star Wars I want that I'll never get a chance to own I guess.  Cushing shaped a lot of what my childhood was watching television with his stint in horror films as well as Star Wars.

So do you do the autograph tours much?  Make your way to the United States often?  I don't recall seeing you on any of the conventions I've gotten to Harry, but I don't get to many outside of my immediate area (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).  We have a Comic-Con here though and a tri-annual Toy/Collectible show, both of which get lots of autograph signers attending from film, T.V., comic industry, etc.

Glad to hear life's been good for you and that Star Wars was such a positive experience for you Harry...  You can imagine what a dream it would've been for anyone here to have had time on the sets of any of the films.  :)

Welcome to JediDefender Aitch, glad to have you here. I remember seeing you on another forum I belong to, the Space 1999 net forum. Quite the impressive acting career you have had. Hope you're enjoying retirement.

Enjoy the forum & hope to hear more about you.  :)

Hi Jesse, Indeed I did get to work with Peter a few times in the 70s and he was the perfect gent. A very quiet kind man.

Hiya Deanna,
It'd be great to have a drawing but my address is private.
Put it on here and let the world see your work. (I can always print it out)
There are other pics from ANH on my web...

Thank you....
