Utley broke his hand today :-X  First day all season I haven't been coveting him entirely.

"Jul 29 Updating a previous item, the Associated Press reports Chicago Cubs SP Carlos Zambrano (right calf cramps) left the game Sunday, July 29, after 7 1/3 innings, on account of cramps."

I'll take 7.1 innings of shutout baseball with a 0.68 WHIP - but that statement is worded quite poorly.

He actually left because he was hungry.  The trainers treated his condition promptly, with food.

Loving those Yahoo updates.

They were kind enough to tell me last night that Varitek was given the afternoon game off ::)  But it gets better, apparently Beckett is pitching tonight, July 30th.  That's really cool since the Sox aren't playing tonight, so I'm a little concerned about him wasting his arm in some beer league game somewhere >:(

**** the Texas Rangers.

Their infinite sucking has cost me again as they dump Gagne to a team that doesn't need a closer and the likely replacement is already snatched up.

Phenomenal.

I dunno, Otsuka is DL'ed and I think they're basically going with closer by committee.  There's another couple places you could look for saves though.

Wanna trade, I might have a spare or two :-*

BTW, the curse seems to be acting up again: last week Pence, yesterday Victorino.

Hey, it's a new month.  Latest addition to the DL: Edgar Renteria, he who had been hitting .419 since the allstar break ::)

So the trade is more fair than the last one.

Tell me why I shouldn't veto the trade.

Is it any less fair of me to block the trade of the guy right behind me?  I mean really, if Kevin had made an iota of effort through the season I'd probably have no justification or qualms at all.  But three moves versus 48 for Scott and 52 for me?  Even you've made 23 Dressel.  I'll merrily concede your fewer moves mean you're smarter and draft better, but explain Kevin's lack of effort.  It's not like there wasn't anything out on the waiver wire all year.

Hell, look at my hitters:
Iguchi
Braun
Byrnes
Markakis
Dye
Renteria
Victorino
Pence

All off the waiver wire.

Jeez, I grabbed Soria and Reyes off the wire as well.

So if Kevin was here for more than providing late season roster trade bait for you, tell me what it was.  Hell, how about Kev comes in and explains a complete lack of effort, considering he can obviously play fantasy sports well enough to win.

Because it was totally fair.

That was a completely even trade talent wise, even using Rob's standard of "ranking for ranking".  It totally fit each of our statistical category needs.

That was a total abuse of the system and there's no justification whatsoever for that veto.  You had no right to do that.

Actually here's the problem:  You're assuming I vetoed the trade, which I didn't.  And I didn't veto the other trade you guys planned either, so in addition to the usual subjects, someone else other than me is not liking what's going on either.  I asked first for justification, it died before my mind was made up.

Okay, well, I've made some internal roster changes instead, and I'm going to go to war with that.  Given Pearson's lifetime of 2nd place finishes, the sheer probability of him winning this time around has to be close to 100%, but maybe there's something to his inability to seal the deal and win it all.  I'll do my damndest to make sure he doesn't.
