I haven't had a chance to get out and see this yet, but I was curious - for those that have - how were the new 'bots like Sideswipe/Soundwave/etc.?

Saw the moving at 915 on Saturday morning with my wife. She thought it was a decent movie too. Not sure what all the hype is about Skids and Mudflap other than they reminded me of Dobby (Potter) and Jar Jar as some of the most annoying charecters in a movie ever. I got to see trailers for both Potter's HBP and GI JOE. Can't want to see them.

There was absolutley ZERO character development whatsoever, but they served their limited purpose IMO.  They seemed kind of just forced into the movie like the Arcee bots.  Soundwave sounded more like the bad dude from Inspector Gadget - same guy?  A few lines here and there, but they didn't dive into any of the new bots outside of the Fallen & Skids/Mudflap which was kind of a let down.

I though the movie was terrible. The editing was the biggest problem. It seemed completely disjointed and made no sense. It's like they rushed editing just to get it out the door and made some huge mistakes. It felt like scenes were missing or in the wrong order. It didn't feel very Bay - like. He will probably be blaming the corporate suits for this one. Oh and what's with all the swearing and gangster talk? Why do movies have to be offensive? Is that just the level of people this movie is aimed at? Completely unnecessary.  It just makes it hard to listen to. Ever notice how Sam gets more pathtic while Fox responds by getting hotter? What's with all the fashion model posing? Basically I want my $12 and three hours back!

I really liked the movie. It gave me exactly what I wanted out of it. Plenty of transforming robots kicking each others asses. The fact that it had a bountiful amount of Megan Fox was a plus.  There was just enough story line in it.

True it didn't develop the robot characters and there were way to many this time to name them all.

Some of the eidting was off and at times way to many explosions. Some of the cussing was unneeded.

Still all of that stuff wasn't enough for me to say this was a bad film.

It was a popcorn summer flick that delivered exactly what it set out to, Robots kicking but...and Megan Fox.

Some parts were better than the first movie, some not.

Really, this made me think of the original cartoons and from that perspective, it was much like those, just updated for today's age.

I'll happily buy all the movie related bots. (One's actually seen in the movie, not all in the toy line.)
I'm just a humble collector trying to make his way through the universe...of toy aisles.

I believe Michael Bay has the same philosophy for when he gets in trouble as the Muppets do. When in doubt, Blow stuff up!!

Don't see the movie then - you've all read/heard the reviews....why watch a movie you know you'd hate?  It's not a MASTERPIECE - not going to win an Oscar.  It's big ******* robots beating the **** out of each other with Megan Fox in the mix which is all I could ask for a good Summer popcorn flick.  Yes there's many plot holes and problems here and there, but just refrain from seeing the movie then.  Nobody asked you to watch it.  I'm not just pointing to you MP - but everyone who feels the movie was "terrible" and those who felt the first movie was "horrible"

Frank Welker voiced Soundwave in the G1 cartoon and he also voiced him in the film.  Welker also voiced Dr. Claw in the Inspector Gadget cartoon.

Finally saw it today and loved it.  I would have preferred to see more Optimus, but he had a good couple of scenes of just flat out whipping ass.  I do wish that Soundwave had been more developed, but he served his purpose.  As for the plot, I didn't care too much about it. I wanted to see Transformers beating the ever loving **** out of each other and that is exactly what I got.  I thought the movie was really good.

On a sidenote, people were so offended by Skids and Mudflap.  They were comic relief.  People need to not be so ******* sensitive. Grow some thicker ******* skin.  I thought they were funny.  That didn't have to be in the film, but they were, and IMO they served their purpose.

I would definitely see this movie again and it will certainly buy the DVD when it comes out.

I think that's a little unfair. If I went buy 90% of the reviews I've read I've never have seen most of the films that I've loved.  Critics were less harsh on Angels & Demons and I detest that film.  If you are a fan of the property, even bad reviews aren't going to turn you off.

I have huge reservations about the upcoming GI Joe film and I don't doubt that it'll probably take a beating by the reviewers but I'm going to see it anyway.  I need to give it a shot just to see because I am a big fan of the property the film is based on.  I'll see it and then make up my mind but I wouldn't want to be told that I shouldn't have seen it just because of the reviews.

My wife and I saw it Sat., and for all the bad press it got, we sure had a good time and enjoyed it quite a lot. I'm not sure what those reviewers were expecting, but to essentially watch your childhood toybox explode onto the big screen while viewing softcore porn (esp. the Fembot  :o ) was great and, for me, was really tough to find much to complain about and I'll probably see it again before it hits DVD.

I thought the modern take on Soundwave was pretty cool as it seemed like a natural evolution from 80's espionage using a tape recorder to an orbiting spy satellite plus having him eject Ravage was a great nod to his G1 roots.

I'm allowed to see movies that the critics hate. In fact, I'm a big fan of really bad "B" movies because there is usually something redeaming in them. The only fun I had during this movie was playing Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the back row with some friends.

Okay.  I saw this movie last night.  I was going to go see it opening day last week, read the awful reviews, and saw "The Proposal" instead.  (I was entertained).

The critics killed Transformers 2, and here's Dressel Rebel's grade:

D +

The movie just about flunked.  The one saving grace is that the special effects were pretty cool.  That's it, and that's all.

This piece of junk is best described as American Pie meets The Transformers.  Sam's parents were a horrific idea.  Their stupid jokes (mostly sexual) every 5 minutes were not only not funny, but just about the dumbest attempt at "humor" I've ever seen.  The humping dogs, the little robot humping Megan Fox, and Sam's dorm mates sexual jokes every 7 1/2 minutes were stupid, classless and just plain dumb.  Also, Megan Fox is not hot.  She's siliconed to death, she's carved up her face pretty good, and she's about as attractive as a blow-up doll from an adult store (um, a friend told me).

The storyline was crap.  Neither me nor my fiancee understood what was going on or why anybody was doing anything.  I had all the Transformers toys as a kid, watched all the cartoons, and liked the Transformers 1 movie.  No clue what was going on in this flick whatsoever.

Lastly, the audience.  Everytime 5 minutes was up and a stupid sexual innuendo joke was due, there was quite a bit of laughter.  Has the standard really dropped so far that people actually find this stuff amusing?  I did not crack a smile during this movie.  None of it is funny.  Looking around TV these days, I understand the days of Leave It To Beaver and I Love Lucy are over (at least for now).  But some of the smut and degenerate sexual crap that passes for entertainment or humor on TV and movies these days is just flat out mindblowing.  It's sewage.  And the audience during Transformers 2 reminded me of the population in the movie "Idiocracy".  If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth it.

If you were thinking about seeing Transformers 2 and haven't yet - don't.
