Wishing Well by Terrance Trent Darby

He claimed his album was going to be bigger than the Beatles Sgt. Peppers album.  After that, his career went down the crapper.

Yeah, but in reality, Terrence Trent D'Arby is a fantastic popsmith, better than 99% of his peers were at the time, and excellent by today's standards as well. Just don't tell him that. ')

Buzzzz. Sorry, Terrance Trent D'arby had another hit in the early 90's with "She Kissed Me".

It was a song about someone kissing him "There".

It was Controversial at the time, even.   :)

I thought I'd ressurect this thread with today's hip hop nomination:

I'd even point out that Terrence had a couple other hits on his debut album as well:  Billboard #4 Sign Your Name, along with Dance Little Sister.  Sorry Mike!   ;)

Hold me now  Thompson Twins

Nuh-uh.  You definitely pegged the biggest hit of theirs, but they also had #6 Lay Your Hands on Me, #8 King For a Day, and #11 Doctor, Doctor...   :P   :-*

Joan Osborne - One of us
Soft Cell - Tainted Love
CCCP - American Soviets

Tainted Love  Soft Cell ???

Well, at least you're finally on the right track here B, but unfortunately Force Guy beat ya' to it way back on page 1. Sorry bud, keep tryin'!  I'm sure you'll come up with a legitimate one sooner or later...    ;D

My next entry:

True by Spandau Ballet

Funny, when the name Kris Kross is mentioned, this name came to mind but he is not a one hit wonder:

Christopher Cross - Sailing, Ride Like The Wind, Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do).
I like his singing.  8)

I'm going to agree with Dale on this one.  Those other songs got a lot of airplay in their day.

Damn you and your memory BB, it's a cool song and deserves to be mentioned twice.  That's my version of the story anyway.

I'm going to agree with Dale on this one.  Those other songs got a lot of airplay in their day.

The thing is, Dale's referring to another artist named Cristopher Cross, Brent.  Not the same Kris Kross that I was just referring to.  Get it...?   :-*

So is somone going to chime in with Kris Kristofferson now...   ;D

Sure was DG!  See how easy this is Brent?!   :P

Here's my "actors should never sing" one-hit wonder contributions:

Eddie Murphy - Party All the Time
Patrick Swayze - She's Like the Wind
Bruce Willis - Respect Yourself
Don Johnson - Heartbeat

Oddly enough, these were all performed in a 2-year span, before the actor singing fad died a quick and painful death...  8)

Who?  See Matt, I'm trying here.  I may not be doing real well, but I'm trying.  You, on the other hand, keep getting all smug about it and pulling bands out of your back pocket that no one has ever heard of.  Alphaville?  This some local club band with strong radio play in LA?  Yeesh. ::)  At least pick one hit wonders that we don't have to wonder who they are. :-* :P ;D

Actors should never sing. Good one Matt. I remember Clint Eastwood singing some song in Paint Your Wagon.  :o
Then there is the famous singing career that William Shatner had.  ::)
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Rocketman

How about Telly Savalas, Kojack himself singing You've Lost That Loving Feeling.  ;D
