Lego Indiana Jones: The Video Game
« on: December 14, 2007, 01:11 PM »

This is something I was really hoping for, after first hearing several months ago that LEGO had acquired the Indy license.

Should be a lotta fun.

Traveller's Tales raiding Lego Indiana Jones

Quote
LucasArts commissions Lego Star Wars studio to parody history-turned-adventurer's first three excursions, available in 2008 for consoles.

Eat your heart out, Mr. Ford.

Traveller's Tales is no stranger to LucasArts properties. The developer won praise, or at least a few smirks, with its tongue-in-cheek send-up of the hallowed Star Wars franchise in Lego Star Wars and its follow-up, Lego Star Wars II. However, during Star Wars Day at this year's Comic-Con International: San Diego, it wasn't the epic space opera that received one of LucasArts bigger announcements.

Closing out its conference at Comic-Con, LucasArts announced Lego Indiana Jones: The Videogame will ride on to consoles in 2008. As with Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones will parody three Indiana Jones movies, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Lego Indiana Jones will developed by the same team behind the Lego Star Wars games and feature the same style of quirky humor and familiar movie moments rendered in children's building blocks.

LucasArts' storied franchises aren't the only ones Lego Group has courted recently. In March, Warner Bros. Entertainment announced it would be piecing together DC Comics' Gotham City with Lego Batman, available for multiple consoles in 2008. Earlier that same month, Lego Group announced that Auto Assault developer NetDevil was prepping a massively multiplayer online game around the popular building blocks.

Along with the game, LucasArts also announced that Lego Indiana Jones playsets will be available in January 2008.

Oh god...that made me feel really, really old.  I have no idea what's going on at all...I've never been very good at playing video games that weren't first person, I just get very confused about how to translate what I'm seeing into where I should be going..ugh and I can satnd all of that coin/money/parts collecting nonsense...it's cute as hell though.

When did you grow up? In the '80s/ late '70s there were video games.

I grew up in the late 70's...I'll be 40 this year (shhhh...) but I was never really that into games.  I palyed some Atari and stuff, but when the Donkey Kong/Barrel Jumping type thing started happening in games, I lost interest.  I own an Xbox, and like games like Halo, or Medal of Honor and one or two Sw games, but I really only like first peson shooter types.  I guess that if I'm imagining myself in an adventure, I want it to be from my point of view, I don't want to be outside of my body...I bought KOTOR the day it cam out and thought it was the most boring thing I'd ever sepnt money on... ;D

I am just like you -one year, I loved the first person shooter games and grew up on atari, pong and battletank of the early 80's.  I thought the lego star wars games was dumb when I first saw it, but My wife and kids got it for me this past Christmas and it is a blast to play.  I can wait to get this one too.

Hits today.  The question is do I buy it now or wait until it hits Greatest Hits status on PS2 and save $20?  (Yes, I'm still rocking the PS2, just not that much of a gamer).

I'm pretty hyped for this. i might just run out and buy it today. i want to get it for my ps3 but that would be an extra $10 and i'm sure it doesn't look that much better then ps2 version. i have the 40 gb ps3 so it doesn't play ps2 games :/ lame.

Pretty awesome that it has like 70 playable characters. short round! :)

I'd wait.  I'm not a hardcore gamer either so I'm fine with actually waiting a year to buy a game for $20 or less vs. $50.
