Hasbro Indy Adventure Heroes
« on: December 14, 2007, 03:17 PM »
Since it was hard to separate out the AH talk from the other SDCC and speculation threads, I thought I'd start this one fresh -

Wave 1:

We also know based on the SDCC pics that RotLA Marion is coming eventually too...

This line is an easy choice for me - the boys love the GH figures, so I er, we will definitely pick these up... :)

That's actually why I pulled up EE today--I think there was perhaps another mystery two-pack they had listed in the first assortment, for a total of six two-packs.  Thought we might speculate as to who the characters were.

They are still up using the direct link at Big Bad Toy Store, but they don't show up in a search of the site.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the other two that were in wave 1, but weren't shown yet.  :-[

I think it's a safe bet that one of those includes Marian, so here's my guesses:

 - German Indy w/Bazooka and "Fancy Suit" Belloq
 - Marian and Toht

EBay auction reveals several new AH guys

New:

Indy in Jacket with Revolver
Indy in Arab disguise
Indy in Jacket with Gloves (?)
Hovito Warrior #1
Hovito Warrior #2

Wow.  Three new Indys, in addition to the two we already know, and two Hovitos. . .

Where's the love for Toht, Hasbro?

Thought I'd take a stab at what the two-packs might be, just for fun--based off the 14 figures (not counting the snakes), for a total of seven two-packs.  This is assuming all the ones we've seen are from Raiders:

Indy with Idol and Hovito Warrior #1
Indy No Jacket and Cairo Swordsman
Indy in Arab Disguise and Sallah
Indy with Gloves and German Mechanic
Belloq and Ark with Angel of Death

I'm having trouble with where these guys go:

Hovito Warrior #2 -- From the South American sequence, there's two Hovitos, and one Indy--seems like maybe there's one we haven't seen yet.  Jungle Safari Belloq, maybe?

Indy with Jacket and Revolver -- This seems to be from the shoot-out at Marion's bar, but there's no corresponding figure.  Toht, maybe?

Marion - Given the outfit, I think Monkey Man makes a lot of sense, especially since he's in the main line.

Mummy - This was pictured with Sallah, whereas a Marion in White Dress would make more sense.  And if Sallah and the mummy are together, then where does Indy in Arab Disguise go?  With Marion, maybe?

So, with the pic, it looks like we finally have confirmation on the wave 1 pairings -

- Salla, Snake, & Mummy
- Gloved Indy & Mechanic
- Arab Disguise Indy & Marion
- No Jacket Indy & Cairo Swordsman
- Belloq, Ark, & Spirit of Death
- Idol Indy and Hovito #1

Props to Matty B, as your list o'pairings proved to be pretty close (or exactly right when paired with the last part of your post).

4 Indy figures seems like a lot for the first wave, but in the end, it won't stop me from grabbing these when I see them. :)

Dig that packaging.

That is by far the cutest Angel of Death toy ever released.

Some dude at The Raven spent $150 or something to snag these early off of eBay.  Here's his thread, with a ****-ton of huge pics.

Good stuff.  There's a bit of a spoiler on Idol Indy which literally made me laugh out loud.

There also seems to be a bit of speculation on whether these guys are from Raiders, or from Crystal Skull:

The new owner is sure that they're from the new movie.  I can't tell either way.  Though, with all the scars, whatever those are, on the warrior--I don't remember ever seeing anybody like that in Raiders.  Maybe that level of detail indicates that it is indeed from the new flick.

They look new to me... I can't remember seeing scaring like that on any of the guys in Raiders. The Crystal Skull is a mythical artifact from the Mayan world IIRC (I've stayed spoiled free so far), and based off that I'd say at least part of the film is set in the former Mayan kingdom in Central America. This guy looks like he could be of Mayan descent (like you can really tell on a figure like this... :P ).

There's some of those Mayans included in the Lego Temple of the Crystal Skull set, so I'd say there's a good chance that the AH Mayan is from KotCS...

IIRC, the guy said it was just some generic Egyptian playset thing he found overseas or something.

Nothing to do specifically with Hasbro or Indy.
