Jabba's Skiff Guards Battle Pack
« on: December 16, 2007, 06:04 PM »
Sounds like an exclusive for next year...my personal wish is that it include at least the following:

Kithaba
Vintage Nikto
Sgt Doallyn
Skiff Master Weequay

If they throw in the inevitable repacks Boba Fett, Lando, Luke, Slave Leia and Chewbacca...not so cool.

Skiff guards are always good. I hope we get some new ones.

Your list is pretty good Scott and would tie up some loose-ends...

I'd add a 5th figure though, with a human skiff guard...  Any human skiff guard.  There's a particularly cool guy though that shoots Luke's hand, and since he does so, I'd dig him the most.  I also would not mind a POTF2 Weequay resculpt in place of perhaps the Skiff Master...  I'd take either with equal satisfaction I think, but I'd still want the other at some point.

Seriously, it was time for one of those laser blasts to find it's mark already.

Would be nice to get new figures, but I'm not holding my breath. With 18 BP's due out though, I wonder if they'll buck the trend of repacks/repaints only. My luck, it'll probably be four repacks and one new sculpt.

I wonder if there's any chance it's going to be a large Battle Pack... the $50 kind.

Could have a repacked Skiff, a few guards, etc, and a stand alone Sarlacc.

Don't you mean a playset?  Actually, I like the suggestion but I'd hope the figures would be new.

Like everyone else I'd be more than happy to buy an all or mostly new set.  If it is as you say Anthony, I'll pass entirely.  I fear you're correct.  I'm at a point with Hasbro that too many re=released figures are just too easy to pass on.  I so regret so many things like the last battlepack like this with crappy figures that I threw money at that I refuse to do it again.  I think Hasbro's doing a great job in a lot of ways, but they did an especially fine job of convincing me that they don't want my money by packing single new figures in packs with three or more, at best, repaints.  The tin sets were like that, as were many battlepacks.  Just a simple pass.  And I'm not that hard to please really, I happily bought the ARC battle pack from Target recently.  A couple of repainted clones, a couple of repainted clone pilots and a repainted droid.  Nothing new aside from paint apps and they got my $20.  Plus I'm not even really that keen on the PT these days, so it's really not that hard to get my $$.  But four figures I already have with minor paint changes and a single new figure: pass.

I think Chewie's comparing it to the Target UBPs.  I think the title "skiff guards" suggests a regular battle pack with just the guards. I'd imagine a UGP would be called "Battle at the Sarlacc" or some equivalent.  Based on previous BPs, I wouldn't imagine they'd include more than 1 new/kitbashed figure unfortunately.

Yeah I was comparing it to what Target is doing with the "Wow or Never" sets.

Just thinking they could release the Skiff again (in place of something like the Hoth AT-ST), then include about 8 figures, probably all rehashes and kit bashes.

Then, in place of the turret, they could maybe make something along these lines -

Don't forget that we got a lot more than just the Target UBP sets.

2007 had more than a few large sets that were simply called "Battle Packs' - the Bantha, Treachery at Saleucami, Geonosis Arena, AT-RT Assault, etc.  Lots of things were called "Battle Pack" but were more than just the basic 5-figure sets.

Sure, it might just turn out to be a box of Skiff Guard repaints but it isn't impossible that it is something larger or deluxe like some of the other stuff planned as BPs next year (like those Rancor sets).

Yeah good point... also I can't believe they're releasing two Rancors next year... I wonder if that means we'll be getting a new sculpt (for Force Unleashed) and they decided to offset the costs by using it for the ROTJ scene too?

Hopefully it just looks more like the real model from ROTJ...

Also it would be nice if the chains/hand cuffs were removable.

I have wanted a sarlaac for a very lomg time. I would be more than happy to buy a set like the Target sets.
