I must have spent half an hour almost drooling over that Falcon set at Toy Fair last year.  OMG, it is FANTASTIC!  As it should be for costing over $2,000, and weighing over 200 pounds.

Truth be told, I'd rather it be like that diorama set.  You can push it against the wall to save space, and I'd rather it serve as a static scene for figures than a vehicle that I could fly around the room  ;D

As long as it's not more than 12" wide (the width of my shelving) I'd love it too.

The Falcon, ironically, "doesn't work" in the real world...  The sets coupled with the models and things don't really match-up properly.  You have to do some fudging for it to work.  The Cross-Sections is definitely a good starting point, but there's about 30 other deck layouts for it too that will help you too Sal.  I suggest looking into old RPG sources on the matter for some help as it lays it out in actual scale...  It's by no means perfect either.

The Falcon's one of those things that's tough to make ultimately perfect.  I dont' think I've ever seen someone do one to-scale with a full interior.  Untackled territory, probably because it's the size of a coffee table.

At the "Where Science Meets Imagination" exhibit they have the Falcon that's just about to-scale to the figures...  A sight to behold, let me tell you.  Well worth a stop too for the "details".  I'd also suggest getting the $200 kit from Japan, as it's the most accurate model of the ship to-date, and is actually based (piece-by-piece) on the actual film prop of same scale...  Really it's unmatched for authenticity, even by things like MR's Falcon IMO.

Heh, I've got 30 years worth of resource material. In the end, I'll have to decide my own interpretation I think. Unless Lucas sanctions ONE specific layout as the true Falcon layout, we're just not going to know. It's kinda like the Simpsons house. No one knows the true layout, because it keeps changing...lol

I've seen the exhibit you mentioned back in D.C several years ago and am going again in Feb to see it in Philly. You can bet I'll get tons of pics. It's a GREAT model.

I'd consider that model somewhere down the road, just not right now. Though the longer I wait the chances of me getting it get slimmer.
I'm just a humble collector trying to make his way through the universe...of toy aisles.

Just noticed this answer from Hasbro's Q and A at 4inches.de this week:

2) If Hasbro would redesign the Millennium Falcon which dimensions would the Falcon have? Would the vehicle be completely "new" or would you re-use parts from the POTF2-vehicle? What could fans expect for a given price, say $ 150,00, electronics, one or more added figures?

A: We will not be taking any questions on the Millenium Falcon.

Seems kind of snippy, or at least short and sweet. :P  The fact that they won't talk makes me think some of the rumors of a Falcon this year may be true.  Deny, deny, deny, then its released in stores.  As much as I'd like a new Falcon, I sure hope it isn't released anywhere near the same time as the AT-TE, or I don't know how I'm going to be able to afford them :).

I agree - snippy response, makes me think they're trying to hide something.  If it's made, I hope it's a 2009 release - I could use the break with all the stuff that's coming in 08.

Chewie
I wouldn't worry that much it they release the falcon and the AT-TE both this year. Odds are we will see them both again in 2009, 2010, 2011 etc.

I my self am looking foward to the Shadow At-te, Mace Windu At-te, 501st At-te,  Battle damaged At-te.

And you know the falcon will be released at Sam's Club or costco with some packin figures like Han and Chewie.

Well, if it's released in 2008 even on the same day as the AT-TE, I'll be coming home with both.  I just can't help it... but I'm a little more worried about explaining it to my wife than anything else.   ;)

Christmas presents to you, from you?   ;D

I'm thinking the Falcon will be a 2009 release... it seems odd if it came out in 2008, where the theme seems to be anything but OT related...

Honsetly, if you put away one dollar away each day (go without a cup of coffee, or a soda, or a candy bar) you'll have plenty of cash to buy the AT-TE and the (rumored) Falcon by the time October gets here, you'll have about 300.00 bucks!

Actually that's kind of a good idea. I might try to do $20 each time I get paid, then it doesn't seem like so much of a burden.

I can see the You Tube parody commercials now...

"Collecting Star Wars can be expensive, but for just a dollar a day, you too could realize your dream of purchasing an AT-TE vehicle this October. Don't leave your inner child wanting this October, contribute today to the 'buy yourself an AT-TE (or two) fund' - you'll be glad you did!"
