Five Movie Waves This Year
« on: February 18, 2008, 04:03 PM »
From, http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?p=600539#post600539

Derryl said in Q&A that every movie but 1 was getting a wave in this lineup, so that's 5 waves right there.

I'm guessing ROTS won't get one, and that we're getting the TPM and AOTC waves confirmed for early 2009 this year.

So we would get Stass Allie in an AOTC wave then?

Yep. From our QnA on 2/01/08

We *did* have an EpI basic figure wave lined up for 2008, but it has been pushed out to early 2009 (it will, however, be well worth the wait).

My guess is the three that haven't been shown belong to ANH, ESB, and either a re-run of ROTS or some other EU type deal, because if I remember right, Hasbro said each film except for AOTC and TPM would get a wave this year.  Could be wrong, though.  That said my definite wishes:

ESB
Zuckuss
Toyrn Farr
Luke Snowspeeder
Snowtrooper Commander
Hoth Rebel Soldier
E-3PO

ANH
Tarkin
X-Wing Wedge
Bon Vidim
Death Star Trench Stormtrooper
Obi Wan Kenobi (as God intended him)
WED Droid and Jawa

Jayson debunked TPM as in a Q&A with Yakface they confirmed TPM is scrapped for the year (though a wave was planned, so that's cool).

Anyway, here's my lists...  Just what I'd hope for the most, maybe my top 5 or 6 or so figures for each wave...

-ANH...  SA Fleet Trooper (Obviously), SA Wedge Antilles, Death Squad Commander, Bom Vimdin, WED Droid, Tarkin Resculpt.

-ESB...  SA Hoth Rebel Soldier (white uniform resculpt), SA Hoth Leia, SA Hoth Luke, SA Hoth Pilot Luke, SA Bespin Guard, SA Jeremy Bulloch Imp. Officer.

-ROTJ...  We saw.

-TPM...  Not happening.

-AOTC...  SA Obi-Wan Resculpt, SA Zam Wessel Resculpt, Sturdy and nicely articulated battledroid resculpt, Capt. Typho In Guard Uniform, Some Separatist Senator Freak or Nightclub freak.

-ROTS (Possible?)...  If a ROTS one's planned this is my route on it.  Cin Drallig (sp?), Young human male Padawan (Random), General Grievous Resculpt (all-out on this one!), Magna Guard Resculpt, V-Wing Pilot, SA Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine in Red Robes, SA Senate Duel Palpatine.

I'd probably be real happy to see some of those.  This is assuming any of these waves are actually coming.

Remember that there are 30 Build a Droid Figure Waves

ROTJ is Wave 1 (8 Figures)
Clone Wars is Wave 2 (8 Figures)

They also said there will be a Protocol Droid BAF (6 figure wave)

That leaves

XXXX is Wave 3 (6 Figures)
XXXX is Wave 4 (8 Figures)

That's 30 total figures, I'm guessing one is ANH and one is ESB since they also said AOTC and TPM aren't having waves this year...my guess:

ESB

Hoth Luke Skywalker
Torryn Farr
TIE Fighter Pilot
Captain Needa
Han Solo Bespin
Zuckuss

ANH

Commander Praji
Rebel Fleet Trooper
Owen Lars
Bom Vimdin
Ponda Baba
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Luke Stormtrooper
Zero-G Stormtrooper

ROTS is being counted as Wave 1 of 2008 and I'd say they are sort of looking at Clone Wars as a AOTC/ROTS wave

30 whole waves? That's like a new wave every ten days! This is gonna be a REALLY expensive year **sigh**...

No, thirty figures in all the waves. Thirty waves would mean like 150-200 figures in a year.

Yeah - I think that ROTS is represented by the 2008 TAC Wave 1.

There are only four Legacy Collection waves coming in 2008, so my guess is:

Wave 1 - ROTJ - 8 figures
Wave 2 - Clone Wars - 8 figures
Wave 3 - ESB - 6 figures
Wave 4 - ANH - 8 figures

I am also not surprised that any possible TPM wave was pushed back to 2009 - it's the 10th anniversary of Episode 1 next year, so I wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few things centered around EP1, perhaps even a vintage style line with EP1 characters. It's been too long since 10 year old Anakin was available as part of the toy line.

I am not missing him and quite content with the one I have buried at the bottom of my figure bin.

I really do want a SA Jar-Jar, that muppet has really grown on me over the years because he is so hated.

I have to admit that TPM characters are usually pretty far down my list of figures I'd like to see made, but lately I've found myself wanting a few as well.  Seeing things like the Evolutions Qui-Gon, Maul, Jango, and the nicely done ROTS figures (Evo Anakin, ROTS Pilot Obi, etc.), a lot of those older TPM figures seem like they are ready for re-dos.  I'd like to see a new Jar Jar, a new Obi-Wan (which I think Hasbro has said is coming in the next couple years), and some others.  I'm sure it will be awhile before we get a new "little Anakin", but you never know.

I wouldn't mind a new Jar Jar as well. Lots of people hate his guts, including myself, but there's nothing we can do about the fact that he plays a big role in TPM and therefore deserves a decent figure. He's nowhere near the top of my wishlist, not even for TPM, but he's on it somewhere, and I'd like to see him someday.
