Medicom Toy Exhibition '08 (Parco Show)
« on: May 23, 2008, 05:12 PM »
* For the newbies, The Medicom Toy Exhibition is sort of like "Kubrick Toy Fair".  There are always exclusives (SW and non-SW) at the show.  Almost every year they've held a show, there has been some sort of carded SW Kubrick as well as a few other things for sale or order at the show...

Since Medicom has announced the dates for this year's show (6/21 - 6/30), I thought I'd get a thread rolling so we can all spend the next 30 days hoping/praying/speculating on what we'll see...  :)

So... what are you hoping to see?  Series 10?  Series 11?  A new box set?

Well we know that the Shadow Guard is still floating around somewhere but i am hoping for another Droids figure. Vlix would be awesome (but expensive as most fo the Parco figures are)

I'd like to see them announce Series 10, which is hopefully ROTS and then they'll get back to the OT stuff.  I think they'll release the Shadow Guard as the exclusive.

I'm hoping for a Droids boxed set.  They've snuck enough stuff out, they could do the box next.  It would be awesome if they did a couple of the unreleased Droids figures in the box set, like Kleb Zellock.  I'd eat up just about anything related to Droids.  Fromms would be awesome, Vlix would be freaking stellar.

I fear the next progression may be the Ewoks series, though the Bearbrick releases may pre-empt that happening (I hope).

I would love to see a Vlix, the Shadow Guard is long overdue so this might be the show.  :)

Maybe we will see some Indy Kuby's since the movie is out. Heck, with the Indy chase that came out in 2003 & the with the Indy & Idol Kubrick/Bearbrick 2pk coming out, this would be a good time. Marion, Belloq in robe, Swordsman, Sallah, chase Ark/Crystal Skull... etc. An endless series.

I am really hoping that the reason they are re-doing "basic Indy" with the Be@r in that 2-pack is so that they could launch a new Indy Series or two (or four) without folks complaining that the only way to get standard hat Indy is a $90 chase.

I would like to see in either carded, boxset or series form the following.

Lobot
Garindan
Ree-Yees
Salacious B. Crumb (The inconsistency in the detail of the sw kubs makes me say no to this...but still...)

I would say Porkins or Biggs but do we really need another pilot after Luke, Wedge and Jorg?

There are a ton of others I'd like but I think you get my "minor character" vibe just from those I've listed.

I'd dig some Indy Kubs.  Hoping they stick to their guns and do older stuff first.  Haven't seen the new movie yet, but I'd hate to see poor sales put the kibosh on a ROTLA series.

Yeah indy kubs would be great but I want to see medicom make the female characters more feminine and children shorter (yoda height).

Basically I don't want Marion to look like she could go up against indy pound for pound. Shape those bodies medicom!!

I mean how can indy call short round short if he's the same height?

This is my wish list for series 1 which I hope will be at the show.

Indy
Marion
Belloq
Sallah
Marcus Brody
Toht

chases

Melted face Belloq
Satipo
Dietrich

I think that pretty much covers all the bases ;)

Belloq's face didn't melt so much as explode. Toht would be the better, not to mention more iconic, choice for "melted face."

I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to change the base kubrick body for the female characters. They do look somewhat chunky, but having all of the figures use more or less the same heads and bodies is part of the appeal, I think.

Yeah I agree with the melted face thing basically because I thought more of the concept than the ideal character.

I also missed out a potential figure or chase... The Cairo swordsman!!!

I don't think it's too much to ask for them to shape the female bodies I mean look at yoda or the droids they're hardly consistant with a basic kubrick shape. They can certainly make the child characters smaller as well.

I'm in the same camp.  Kubricks are block figures.  If I want something with shape, I'll go grab some Hasbro stuff.

I'm ok with kids like Anakin or Short Round being shorter, but I don't need anything but block figures period.
