IGN's Greatest Star Wars Toys - A New Hope
« on: October 3, 2008, 09:36 AM »
IGN has a new feature up discussing the greatest Star Wars toys, and this time its featuring the "Star Wars/A New Hope" toys of the vintage days.  Although you may not necessarily agree with their rankings, its still a nice trip down memory lane.  Just thought I'd pass it along.  Man, I miss those simpler days sometimes :).

The good old days, memories of times past. #5 sure has quite the write up.

This is a love-it and hate-it kinda thing all at the same time. It's not even a toy, actually, but instead a ridiculous marketing scheme cooked up by Kenner and George Lucas' peeps to keep the hungry masses at bay while the toymakers did their best to actually manufacture Star Wars toys after the huge success of the film's release.

Basically, you got this empty piece of cardboard and then months later Kenner would send you four actual action figures. An early example of the greed of Lucasfilm? Or of the blind devotion of Star Wars fans?

Who would have thought what this envelope would bring, even the figure kit.  ;D

As for #1 the Boba Fett, gotta love the pic they used from the RS Archive::)
