I'll try again and see if I can keep the numbers down.  So far:

-70.00 sold some stuff (minibusts)
-900.00 ebay sales of stuff in the basement
-123.00 sold some stuff to Dale
-65.00 sold some stuff to IamSith
+100.00 shipping for items sold

Month thus far: <1128.00>  ;D

I've never done this, but when I tried to calculate what i spent in 2008 (it wasn't in the league of some here, but it was well over $1,000, ie in the "honey that's too much" range), I was a bit dismayed, so hopefully this will be informative.

I'm already hovering around $200 and we're only 5 days into the new year.  These threads are depressing - which is why I don't care to keep track of my spending.  Not sure if you guys count tax or not, but here's my only post for this thread:

AT-TE ($64)
TF WM Excl ($10)
TF dlx x2 ($16)
TF Target Excl ($21)
GI Joe figs x8 ($56)
GI Joe vehicle ($16)

Good luck guys!   :)

Generally the idea was to keep track of your accounting however it best suited yourself.  If you wanted to count everything including shipping fees and customs fees (for the non-Americans) then you could do that.  Or CDs/DVDs, etc. to keep track of your non-essential spending is fine too.  Taxes are arbitrary and I count mine usually because I have to pay them.

The notion these threads are depressing is generally accurate though.  Frightening is another word that comes to mind.  I spend a lot but would like to continually decrease that.  I'm hoping to be in the $1500-2000 range this year, though would be happier to be much lower.

Always keep in mind though there are a lot of people nuttier than anyone here (even Dale).  I'll never forget seeing the series of Fett prototypes for sale at Celebration 3 that were up for sale for something like $30,000 for about 8 figures.  I didn't think they'd sell.  They didn't last half the first day before they were gone :o

Well if you are cutting out stuff this is a great way to track your spending.

I count however much it costs to own the piece (IE...if I am billed tax, I count it. If I am billed S&H I count it.). I round up my costs (so if I spend $0.50 or more I round up to the next dollar. If I spend less than $0.50 then I round down.).

I spent more than  $2000 last year which is what made me realize I have to cut back on my spending. Im hoping to spend less than $300 on SW this year, which really shouldnt be hard considering there are only a couple of figures coming out that I want. Though I really want to finish my Dragonball Z dvd collection and finish my hockey figure collection (one player from each team). My goal is to spend less than $1000 this year.

*edit* Ok after finding out that the 3 dragonball z dvds i am missing are going for close to $40 each i have decided to just stick to the season sets and only the movies that interest me. And I will have to add That 70's show to my goal list for the year. I found seasons 1-4 for $14 at a local WM, my only hope is that they will still be there by thursday :P

**edit x2 lol* found and bought that 70's show. should be done for the month in terms of spending. only thing im looking for now is Dragonball z season 8 and Dragonball GT season 2. but those come out next month.

Jan=$92

Dragonball z Coolers revenge $25
That 70's Show  $67

For Reference:
The Great 2008 Collector's Challenge
The Great 2007 Collector's Challenge
The Great 2006 Collector's Challenge
The Great 2005 Collector's Challenge
The Great 2004 Collector's Challenge

======

So yeah, my only goal for this year is to spend less on SW. Toys altogether will be down due to the loss of the Indy line, so I guess I'm going to be spending most of my money on DVDs. Of course tomorrow I'm blowing my Christmas break working money on an Xbox so we'll see...

My goal for the year is to spend less than $2000

Here we go again, another year where I try this and probably forget within 5 weeks.

I'm going to round to the nearest dollar.

January:
  • Rebel TIE Fighter = $33.00
Total = $33.00

I am going to try this, see if I can keep below 2000 dollars for plastic toys, 3000 dollars for the entire lot including DVDS/CDS.

So far for Jan I have spent:
TCW - Padme (8.00)
EVO - B-Wing Pilot Keyan Farlander (8.99 from ebay, including S&H)

So Grand Total is - 16.99 (for Jan so far)

 So far so good this year.  Didn't buy anything I feel like fits here so for the year so far (and January):

-$1128.00  ;D

Negated about a third of last year already, let's see what I can do in February....
