I'm not the world's biggest Pohlad fan, but it is sort of sad that he didn't make it to see his new ballpark next year...  he tried for 10+ years to get it and now he'll never see it - a bit of irony in there I guess.

Eloise Pohlad dies in 2003, Bob Casey in 2005, Puckett in 2006, now Carl in 2009; This team can't take too much more lose to it's core.

I wasn't a big fan of Carl's since he tried selling the team in 97 that would have moved them to North Carolina, but I have always been a Twins Fan. He will be missed. You know that this upcoming season will be dedicated to him, as will opening day at the new park.

CNN.com is reporting that Mark Teixeria's 8 year, $180 M deal is now finalized and set.

Yankees have spent $423.5 M on 3 players this off season.

CC Sabathia - 7y/$161M
AJ Burnett - 5y/$82.5M
Mark Teixeria - 8y/$180M

Combined with

A-Rod - 10y/$275M
Jeter - 10y/$189

This is just proof that baseball needs a salary cap more and more.

It's going to be EXTRA funny when the Yankees don't make the playoffs this year.

Henderson, Rice given Hall passes

Rice finally makes it on his last try...  15th time is the charm I guess.  Maybe next time, Bert.   :-\

Rickey Henderson is the greatest of all-time.

And if you don't believe me, just ask Rickey.

Quote
6) This one happened in Seattle. Rickey struck out and as the next batter was walking past him, he heard Henderson say, “Don’t worry, Rickey, you’re still the best.”

A-Rod out 3 months for hip surgery  :'(

Thank God for our strong pitching and Mark Teixeira.

But I wonder if we can still pry Manny away...

I noticed last night when Japan was celebrating their WBC championship that one of the players/coaches name on the back of their jersey said YODA.

Just found out the Angles Pitcher Nick Adenhart from last night was killed in a car crash along with three others.  Reports state that another man killed in the crash is also affiliated with the team.  This season is starting off ugly for my team, first a fan gets killed at the stadium and now one or more players may of being killed.

Angles Pitcher among those killed.
