COOL! My car imploded!

Well, its been approaching the 90's around here for about a week and a half, and I dont have a shady place to park my car. Well, not even thinking about it, I didnt roll my windows down or anything. Well, because of the heat, my car imploded! :) The entire rear window completely busted and was sucked into the car. I dont see how it could possibly be vandalism, but if it was, I want to meet this vandal and shake his hand, because it was pretty cool ;) The entire window completely turned to itty bitty pieces of glass, and spread throughout the whole car. There is glass everywhere, from the dashboard and ac vents, all of the seats, the handles, locks, everywhere....

Awesome dude. Now let me ask you a question...are there any left-over glass  on the widow-frame? Because if it did, then it a possibilty that it was vandelized.

Theres very little glass, but the way it was busted, I sincerely doubt it was vandalized. Not to mention that vandalism has never been a problem in my town. I had a mechanic friend from down the road check it out and without thinking, he told me that it looked like it was because of the heat.

That is too sweet!  I'm gonna have to roll up my friend's windows and set up the video camera!  Thanks for the idea.   Oh, sorry about your car Wookie. :-\

Happened to a friend of mine too.

Opposite of yours, it was very cold outside.. they were sitting in the car with the engine running to stay warm, but because they were smoking in her parent's car she opened the window.  

The sudden change from hot to cold  exploded the rear window!

That was probably a big factor in mine busting up. I run my air conditioner as cold as I can possibly get it (to the point my glasses fog up when I get out). A HUGE difference in temps. Oh well, glad I wasnt in it when it happened!

Man, I wish it was only approaching the 90's here.  We've been between 100 and 105 for the past couple weeks out here in L.A.   :'(

Sorry 'bout your car Adam, but at least your taking it well!  I'd be totally pissed off if that happened to me!   ;)

Well, **** happens, ya know? Really no need to get pissed off about it, because as pissed as I get, it still wont fix the problem. Its a rarity that I get pissed. As a matter of fact Matt, what I talked to you about yesterday was the first thing that truly pissed me off in months! :)

I've really developed a strong "I just dont give a crap" attitude (about most stuff anyway)...

That happened to my first car, a VW Jetta. I was just standing there, talking my someone, and I heard this loud 'pop' and the glass just busted. It stayed in place for a few seconds and then it all fell inside the car. Nothing hit it, it just blew up. I think aliens were involved. :-\

Luckily that never happened to me, but I'm glad you're taking it so well Wookie.  I would be totally pissed off if that happened to my Jetta.  I'd actually be more mad about cleaning the car versus having to get the window replaced.

I wish my car's rear window would implode...  Or be vandalized.  Either way, just the rear window, because while I was scraping the crappy-@$$ tint job the moron who owned the car before me did, I hit the defrost lines...

Not that my car's much of a winter car, but it sucks if it fogs up too.   :-\

I hate these dimwits who attempt car "improvements" like crappy tint, but don't have a foggy clue how to do it...  Then lie saying "It just bubbled up, I dunno what happened!"

I know what happend!  You thought you could make the car better, and in the long run you made it look like a 5 year old applied your tint!  

Plus the guy was a liar from A to B...  I hate liars.

Still, I pimped a big black "S" on the highway when I left Toys R Us today after a toy run.  :)  It may look like someone did a crappy tint job that needed removed, but it's got it where it counts kid.

On my old car, I had this crack in my windshield that would get a little bigger every time I took it out in the sun. I finally figured it out it was because of the temperature change from my garage to the road....and solved the problem by parking it outside. Well, that and eventually getting the crack repaired when it reached the length of the window.
