Walmart CW Octuptarra Droid
« on: February 11, 2009, 11:48 AM »
Looks like there's a new octuptarra droid on its way!

From http://www.jedinews.co.uk/:

You can now pre-order the Octuptarra Droid from site sponsor Play.com, which is due to be released on 30/04/2009 priced at £37.99.

Among the advanced combat droids flanking General Grievous in his secret headquarters on Utapau are the octuptarra droids.

The stilt-legged spider-like automatons have large balloon-like heads atop their thin stalk bodies, armed with laser turrets. Their rotating multi-jointed assemblies allow them to change facing almost instantly, and it is nearly impossible to get a drop on the droids as all sides conceivably face "front." A larger cousin to the octuptarra droid, the tri-droid, was used in campaigns on Mygeeto.

Hopefully we'll get a picture at Toy Fair! I can't wait to add this to my Mygeeto bridge diorama. ;D

I hated the octu droid for what it was, and I'm not looking forward to a larger version, but I'll buy because I'm stupid like that.  Bring on the snail.   :-\

Yikes....I sure hope they don't end up being as flimsy as the basic figure release. THat was terrible and ruined an otherwise awesome figure. :-\

I guess that answers my question about the scale of the "Tri-Droid." Both look nice and I will most likely pick both up.

That's a AA battery.

Meaning those guns are roughly the size of the sandtrooper rifle?  Wow, that's pretty big.

I was thinking it was double A too, as Ryan noted, but there's a stubby battery that looks like a double A (or triple A) but it isn't.  It's possible that is the type of battery in the photo, and it's just tough to tell because there's nothing really comparing it to something everyone is familiar with.

I'm guessing it's a double A though like Ryan mentioned.  Making that one big Octuparra droid.

I'm gonna say the battery is AAA. It looks a bit too slender for a AA, but then again the whole picture is kinda off.

I thought the same thing when I saw the pic and I still think it is.  Too bad they couldn't have turned the battery the other way.

If it matters here in terms of establishing the scale of the Octuptarra, AA are 1.988" long and AAA are 1.752" long - a difference of less than .25" (.236")  :P

To me it looks like a AA

There's nothing worse than a big limp Star Wars toy.
