Why another Call Mattel day?

Mattel isn't going to take it seriously.

I like some people at the .org, but they tend to have their heads up their asses in regards to the reality of their favorite toy line.

You know what, honestly your not helping the situation. It s aphone call. Its not going to kill you to give it a shot. If it doesnt work oh well, at least we tried.

I wasn't going to call Mattel anyway. It already died one painful death; Mattel's just going to **** it up within a year if they start over again.

So, Mattel just took the comic away from MVC, and now, this.....
(From he-man.org's main page)

We have some troubling news to share with fans of He-Man.org.
It's come to our attention that Mattel may absorb He-Man.org.
Click here to see what other fans have to say about this.
It's actually something that Mattel has been pushing for over a year now, but they have never really acted on it.
Lately, we fear the worst.
One would think this wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
It's also possible that it could be in Mattel's right to own He-Man.org, as the name He-Man is a federally owned trademark of Mattel's.
We're not sure where we stand legally since we've had this site in operation for many a year, prior to Mattel's refiling for the name and the relaunch of the brand. But it's not Mattel owning the domain name that troubles us.
What worries us is if Mattel owned He-Man.org, they might slowly tighten their grip on the site content itself until it's become part of their company and devoid of fan control/input.
Mattel claims this won't happen, but given everything we've seen over the past two years, we are very weary.
We've all fought very hard for MOTU.
This site was one of the biggest catalysts for the rebirth of MOTU.
It's the largest site for information and news on MOTU.
And we feel the only reason Mattel probably hasn't come in and forced it away from us is because they are scared of how fans will react.
We've stood by Mattel through a lot of things we don't necessarily agree with.
But please remember, there are a lot of good people at Mattel who fight for the fans and He-Man.org.
So cursing the company as a whole is wrong, because we blame everyone in the process... even those who are fighting the good fight. Still, it's the few people there that make the less-than-popular decisions that worry us. And it's only a few, but that's all it takes.
If it comes down to it, we'd rather move He-Man.org to a new domain rather than have a bunch of suits come in and take away what is an important part of many of our lives.
This is not only a MOTU resource, but a strong community where we all feel at home regardless of how long you've come here or how passionate of a fan you may be.
It sickens us to think of abandoning the name He-Man.org.
It's a recognizable name across the globe, even branded on shirts that many of you wear (and we thank you all for making those shirts a reality)
But if worse came to worst, we won't let Mattel take over this site.
We've seen Mattel ignore He-Man.org input (fans, creators, etc) in favor of some bad internal ideas... ideas that the company did eventually ended up using, but too late in the game.
We 've watched horrible case ratios clog the pegs.
We 've endured choices on less-than-spectacular non-Four Horsemen toy designs.
We 've witnessed bad time slots and presentation for the cartoon.
Some of which could be stopped, some of which was uncontrolable.
And now, we're fighting to keep the comic alive for the fans despite regulations that have made it almost impossible to maintain sales in a competitive comic industry.
(What is happening with the comic? It may disappear, even though MV wants to continue producing it. Please click here to read more about what is happening)
And despite it all, like many of you, we still fight for this brand.
We don't want it to end, even though we've been holding onto the crap end of a stick for longer than we would for anything else in this world.
If you want to share your opinion with Mattel, click here to e-mail them.
More importantly, we encourage every fan who attends Wizard World Chicago to stop by Mattel's booth and TELL them how you feel..
About how they've handled the toys...
About what you've seen with the cartoon...
About what you want to see done with the comic...
And how you feel about He-Man.org...
Be it good, bad, or a mixture, tell them how you feel....please...
Thanks everyone, for your time and understanding. This site wouldn't exist without you. Please help to keep it and Masters alive for years to come.

That sure is strange.  Seems to be a lot of "strange goings on" with the MOTU line lately, well, there always did seem to be some problems here and there with it.  Mattel just doesn't seem to know what they are doing, period, I guess.

I've been thinking about it a while, and maybe they're trying to relaunch the property again, what with yanking the comic from a small company and trying to take over the .org.

I think Mattel just wants the name. He-Man is a registered trademark.

Still holding to my promise of never again buying a Mattel product. $28 for a character I care nothing about- screw it, the DVDs come out tomorrow and the VOTC Jedi wave has arrived. No time for love, She-Ra.

Sounds like a ray of hope for MOTU fans, and it is kind of cool that it is happening:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOUR HORSEMEN AND NECA OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE PLANS FOR A 6-INCH SCALE COLD-CAST MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE¹ FIGURES LINE

The MotU legions have spoken and, as we´ve always tried our best to do in the past, we´ve listened to you and here¹s our response. You wanted them - you´ve got them.

Whether the Masters of the Universe action figure line is actually dead or not, for months now MotU fans have been without any new figures to finish out their collections. Being fans of MotU ourselves, we know exactly what you¹re all going through. We¹ve heard your cries of anguish and we now heed your call.

Four Horsemen Studios and NECA would like to officially and proudly announce their upcoming line of collectable 6-inch scale cold-cast figures!

Masters of the Universe fans have been suggesting this solution to their current dilemma time and again through letters, posts on message-boards and e-mails, and we think it¹s a fantastic idea.

The 6-inch scale cold-cast figures will be fully painted, non-articulated micro-statues that will come with all of their originally intended accessories, and a base - the color of which will designate the faction of that character (purple for Skeletor¹s minions, red for Hordak´s horde, green for King Hsss¹s troops, etc., etc.).

We´re going to attempt to use some sort of clam-shell or blister-card/box type of packaging so those wishing to display them alongside their unopened MotU action figures will be able to do so.

Here´s the deal. You won´t be seeing tons of strange variants of the two main characters. You won¹t be seeing day-glow orange & fluorescent green versions of your favorite characters unless they were originally intended to have those colors. You won´t be seeing sculptures in which what is supposed to be a ten-foot tall monstrosity is somehow towered-over by a six-foot tall hero.

What you will see, in at least the first two waves, are characters that you´ve been waiting to see since the new Masters of the Universe action figure line launched back in 2001. All with paint schemes and accessories that you want to see, and in scales that are proportionate to each character!

The first wave of 6-inch scale cold-cast figures will consist of only two characters in order to get the first wave out quickly. Our plan is to then have three figures in each consecutive wave thereafter. We already have the first two cold-cast figures finished and are now working on the second wave.

We´re not going to reveal who the characters in the first two waves are just yet, but we will tell you that none of those five characters have been seen in 6-inch figure form since waaaay back in the eighties!

News identifying the characters, images and the release of this first wave is going to come fast and furious, so get ready. We expect to release the names and images of most of the first two waves near the beginning of the year, with the first wave of MotU 6-inch scale cold-cast figures to ship very soon thereafter.

We know what you´re probably thinking, "Great, a fully painted, 6-inch scale, cold-cast MotU figure line, with the bases? How much am I going to have to shell out for these? 50 or 75 bucks a pop?" Not even close.

Believe it or not, we´re trying our darndest to get the price at or below $20.00 each. We´re still working out all of the logistics, so depending on how the packaging/shipping issues go, it could be slightly more than that, but rest assured that we are trying. How is this possible? We have no idea, but the guys over at NECA are crunching the numbers, and things are looking good.

From the minds of MotU fans and onto the shelves of collectors world-wide. None of this would be at all possible without the support that all of you MotU fans have given us. Don´t give up all hope just yet. You never know what the future may holds we´re still listening.
