Princess Leia's Ep. IV Accent
« on: August 31, 2009, 09:28 PM »
A question to all fans out there - why does Princess Leia have an almost British-like accent in Ep. IV, which eventually disappears in Episodes V and VI? I have been wondering for a LOOONG time, but I just forgot about it one day day. Then I recently read an article in which someone else also points this out, and now I want a final answer. Anyone care to share any information?  ???

I read that the accent was to come and go on purpose - Leia - as a Senator and a Diplomat - used the accent in more formal settings when dealing with other officials or when she needed to use her authority.  It was inherent in her upbringing and political training.  As was also the case with Padme' and her odd way of speaking that seemed to come and go.

Lucas and his odd coaching of the actors' accent.
