PLEASE give unwanted figures to CHARITY
« on: October 5, 2009, 05:18 PM »
From Sandtroopers Q&A:

3) Now that Hasbro has "supposedly" went around to some stores in some areas and removed the "peg warmers" of Yarna, Trinto Duaba, etc. - how long will it be before we can expect those figures to ship in the Legends line?

It is not "supposed" - we *did* have our legions of retail folk pull back a number of slower moving figures including Yarna, Ak-Rev, the Organas, and Cantina aliens in order to remove them from retailer inventory and stimulate shipment of new waves. They are being destroyed and will never ship, in any form, again. Was the comment about Legends just poking fun, or did you think we actually repacked poor-selling figures onto new cards?

============

I cant believe a huge corporation like Hasbro would DESTROY unwanted figures, rather than give them to charity! Is this a common practice among toy companies? We should change the tide and see if Hasbro is willing to donate all the unwanted figures to Toys-for-Tots or something similar rather than be wasteful and simply destroy them.

No doubt!  That's a total crime to destroy toys like that.  At the very least, they should have their rep in each town where they pull the figs go to the nearest Goodwill and donate them there, or maybe even return them to the Hasbro TS and sell them online for half price or something!

As I stated originally, Hasbro didnt 'recycle' any of them - and they should be called out on it:

SSG: Back in January, we asked about what happens to pulled-back pegwarming figures, and at the time you hadn't bought back some in a while so your answer focused on other methods of using the packaged figures, but on October 2nd you answered another site that this year's pulled-pack figures were being destroyed. How exactly are they being destroyed, and are those destroyed materials being recycled in some manner, or are they just destined to become landfill? Can Hasbro further clarify the details of this issue and address rationale behind this measure which could negative effects on the environment?

Hasbro: Due to their nauture, they cannot be recycled. Beyond that, we don't have any details on the specific method of disposal.

just a few comments don't take offence non intended

1. I don't want dirty recycled plastic made into clone troopers like the dirty cheap nasty ones that were out before all grey looking with inclusions like a remelted candle.(no one can convince me otherwise)

2. recycle them into a special shoe for homeless or some thing.

3. when the world runs out of oil that plastic will be worth a fortune don't bury it to deep it could be sooner than ya think.

4. swap stock between locations.
or

5. micro manage quantity's better per location through internet polls
(state by state voting on certain figures and vehicles. there are polls anyways so whats 1 more.)
