You've come such a long way, Rob. If Deanpaul hadn't died in a canyon down under, he would be so proud of you.

Anyone out there have a favorite HTML editor app for their iPad?  Or a favorite FTP App?

Anyone tried FTP on the Go Pro or FTP Client Pro?

Anyone tried Textastic Code Editor?

Looks like someone's planning on bringing their iPad to C6 for coverage!

I wish I could help you out on those points, Jeff, but I haven't had to use any of those applications since I quit reporting for JTA.  But having an iPad 2 now, I can see how it's probably a far easier platform to haul around a con for reporting purposes.  Especially if your iPad is 4G capable, and you have the wireless keypad.

It looks like there are plenty of options in the Apple app store for FTP uploaders and HTML editors.  And the ratings don't vary all that much from one another.  Have you tried searching some App forums?

Too bad the camera on the iPad sucks. It's low res and very grainy. Not a good idea. Please use a real camera and edit the pictures down in size on the iPad.

No it just sounded like it. Thanks for using the Nikon instead. The iPad would have sucked.

The iPod Touch is now the same price as the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" tablet. For $299 you can get a 4" iPod Touch or an 8.9" Kindle Fire HD with the same memory and retinal display. I don't see a price point for a 7" iPad now if the Touch is going to be that much. Besides, you can get Google Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire HD 7" for $199. There are too many good options out there now for Apple to charge such high prices.

I wouldn't be so quick to sing the praises of the Kindle Fire.  It's a nice e-reader, and it's decent at web surfing.  But as far as media playback, you're pretty much Amazon's bitch.

Amazon's bitch. Apple's bitch. What's the difference?

It's cheaper being Amazon's bitch with more tricks.

It's cheaper for a reason. Part of that reason is the "Apple tax" and part of that reason is because it does much more and is an all-around more versatile/useful and user friendly device. And it's cooler.

Really?  It seems like the only way to get media onto your Kindle is through Amazon directly, or having an Amazon Prime subscription.  At least with my iPhone / iPod / iPad I can use varying sources of media, provided of course that I use them in the iTunes or iBooks applications.

Amazon very deliberately kept the price on the Kindle Fire low.  And that's because they knew that they'd rope people in with that low cost of purchasing the hardware, but make some more serious money on the media.  It was a very calculated move on their part.

^This.  You get what you pay for.  Apple is more expensive, but the iPhone / iPad is a superior product in many many ways.  Especially compared to the Kindle.

You haven't seen the latest Kindles HDs. The Kindle HD 8.9" has the same display as the ipad and same amount of memory for $100 less. You don't need to use the store to put media on the Kindle. It's just like any other Android device. Just plug it into the computer and it becomes one of your computers drives. Easy.
