100 Best Places to Live - 2010 Edition
« on: July 12, 2010, 09:04 PM »
Just checking out this year's list over at Yahoo/CNN Money.  I guess you MN guys must know something, with 5 cities in the top 100 - and the number one overall this year (Eden Prairie, MN).

Wow, North Dakota with three spots as well.  Really surprised to see Bismarck on that list.  When we stayed there for a day last year we were really happy to leave and had wished we'd driven the extra couple of hours on to Fargo.

Where is Chino Hills, CA? Its typically on there. When I ran the compare it came in higher then their number one choice in most categories. Besides, who the hell wants to live in Minnesota? Come on for god sakes, IT's MINNESOTA!!!! I bet'cha!

What?  It's warmer in Minnesota than where I am.  Damn fine place that state is.

Yahoo has one of those lists every other week, except they look at slightly different characteristics week to week.  The one a few weeks back listed the Capital District in NY in the top ten places to raise a family, but its not even on the list for top places to live....

Interesting the Minnesota typically rates fairly highly regardless of which particular list you look at though...

MN rules outside of the crappy sports teams.  Have you ever lived here?  I'm guessing not.

I do think it's funny how the cities change drastically every year.  MN does show up a lot, but seems like they pick different cities each time, which is a little weird.  Likewise, Middleton, WI was #1 a year or two ago and I didn't see it on the list this year.

That's what happens when your effective tax rate is 60% - you get the best parks, best schools, best arts, etc.  You just don't have any money left to spend on those things  :'(
