my first instinct would be that this was Hasbro making the figure before knowing exactly how it would look or something like that - similar to what they did with the Hammer drones and final battle Whiplash in the IM2 line

Is it cynical or have you just been collecting long enough to realize what's going to happen?  That isn't cynical, it's realistic.   ;)

My first thought is that they didn't want to make him straight black because of the whole SS/Nazi thing.  But they did a black version for the SDCC exclusive set so, more likely, it's so they can double-dip on him later.   :-\

It's possible that they didn't have the final look of the character in time to pick the paint, who knows.  But you have to think that Hasbro will take any opportunity to make a second sale on a paint change or be able to offer a different color in a 2-pack, box set or store exclusive.

but it isn't just the paint, as I am sure you all are aware and I don't really need to tell you, but in the comparison picture the outfit is all different too.  The super-strappy look.  anyway, again, I hope they do make the version marveluniverse.com is using in the comparison pic.  And I read on one website that someone was speculating the head being a little on the small side because maybe he came with a fake human face mask to put on off.  That would be pretty cool imo.

Ew.  You mean, like, more than Winter Soldier and WWII Cap?

The rest are horrible.

Wave 2 is where it's at.

Then you'll be happy to hear that my case of wave 2 will be here on Thursday.

Nice.  Was this EE?  I didn't preorder mine until this week.

Crossbones, Bucky Cap, US Agent, Final Mission WWII Cap, great wave.

I saw that because of the movie release this will be released later this year:

It is a nice campy retro flash back in the 12 inch format.  I've got a Dr. Evil from Captain Action I can put this on.

I'm wondering if any one has heard anything about something similar to this being released this year too:

More in scale with the 8" Mego's.  This came out in 2007 and can still be readily found, but for about $50 so if something just as good or better is going to be released this year I've got something to look forward to.

Ha!  I sold my Captain Action (the vintage, late 60s stuff) a couple of years ago.  I got about $150 or so for the loose Cap set, including the ring.  Memories.

I will definitely pick up a few figures from this wave.

Anyone know why Captain Britain is included in this wave?  I get Crossbones and USAgent with their involvement in the comics, but have Captain Britain and Captain America ever even met?  Outside of the link in names for allied countries, I don't get it.   ???

I'm not a big Super Heroes guy, but I'm going to pick up one really good generic Cap'n to put in front of my 1:18 military US guys.  :)  That one on the bottom of the Wave 2 pic there looks pretty slick.
