My DirecTv guide shows we were getting the Giants game today.  We most likely won't get to see it tomorrow night.  This also makes it tougher for the Giants to win against Philidelphia next week.

******' cheap ass stadium roof.   >:(

Well, it's Minnesota...  Who honestly expects it to snow much, ya know?

I just have a hard time believing someone thought making your stadium half bouncy castle was a good idea.

I guess it was hard to see coming given this:

"According to the Metrodome Web site, the roof has collapsed before. It happened just 48 days after the roof was first inflated in 1981. Wet, heavy snow was the cause then, too. The stadium was completed in 1982."

Another disaster straight out of nowhere with no warning whatsoever.  They are lucky people weren't killed.

Actually, I think this is the fourth time the roof has malfunctioned due to snow accumulation

In addition to the 1981 incident, another mega-snowstorm in Dec-1982 caused the roof to collapse.  And then, the next spring (1983) snow caused another cave in that postponed an April Twins' game.  Those two incidents lead to a redesign of the roof and new process for clearing snow, one that worked very well until this past weekend.

The real issue over the weekend was the wind.  The high winds forced clean-up crews off the roof, which allowed the snow to accumulate.  If not for the winds, the crews might have been able to use high-pressure hot water hoses to clean the roof, which is what they normally do to avoid the snow accumulation.

I was actually at a Twins game in 85 or 86 where the roof started to collapse during a thunderstorm.  They were playing the Angels, we were sitting in Left Field and to this day I can remember the look of fear in the left fielders face as the roof started bouncing up and down.  My sister booked it up the stairs and was almost lost in the ensuing pandemonium...

It didn't collapse but part of the fabric was hanging down.  Fun times!

Some of the Vikings are worried the cold hard TCF Bank field may hurt them.

I didn't really start that scenario thinking that I'd pick the Bears to go that far, but I like their defense after watching them last week, and I think the Falcons are overrated.  Once I picked the Packers to beat the Falcons, that left the Bears with HFA and I don't think they'll lose at home.

I really only like doing these picks week to week... but I figured I'd play along for the hell of it.

Did anyone else hear Welker's "foot" interview? That was ingenious.

Repeat of Super Bowl XX?

I like it.

But yeah, this time it's the Bears who get their ass handed to them.
