I still have my original CC pilot along with my original Cloud Car itself. Though I am glad to see they made a new cloud car with more play features. It may not be ultra exciting but it is a cool vehicle nonetheless.
I thought he looked pretty good for back in the day, though I don't think his gun or scanner thingy has survived to the present. LOL.

The moustache on the latest figure while cool in a Tom Selleck sort of way...the addition of facial hair is really needed nor does it lend itself to army building...sort of like the latest Endor trooper.   I never really cared for this dude and didn't think the resculpt was at all necessary

This guy was always one of my favorite Vintage figures. I agree that the resculpt seemed unnecessary but I like the variation. I also think that this concept sketch is worth noting as source material. This may be one of the earliest part-EU figures.

I never had the Cloud car or pilot as a kid, but I think the two modern representations are very good.  I also think the new cloud car is great even though I don't have one in my collection as of yet.
This is the way.

I agree the interest in this figure is army building. Nevertheless tvc version has nice updates like the microphone attached to helmet, the different utility belt and pants with yellow applications. The lack of the walkie talkie should be solved in a future repack.

At first glance, the figure shows a predominant white on it. Remember that otc red applications on Cloud car pilot dressed more the jacket and seemed more movie accurate. (The photo of the source shows actors whose jackets are apparently red on their shoulders.)

I dunno. I think I like the OTC version better myself. Can't believe I never lost the communicator on the vintage one as a kid. I fact, somehow I managed to acquire an extra one.

I had the original as a kid and I thought he was pretty cool.  I remember thinking that the photo on the card was of an actual person--it wasn't until many years later that I found out that it was only a miniature--creepy how realistic those ILM guys could make them!   :)

Sure, Hasbro didn't need to do an all-new figure, but I'm pretty impressed that they did so instead of just going the cheap route and re-releasing the OTC figure in Saga Legends.

It would be nice if they have a running change with a different head along the way to give some variety.

I agree completely with Scott on facial hair...  I prefer less "distinguishing" marks on army builders.  The more generic, the better.  The same for the Endor Rebel, however I think Hasbro was slightly trying to mimic the Endor Sergeant from Sideshow (I see he's also compared to a Hasbro sculptor, and I think at best they were trying to combine the two).  The Endor Sergeant had a goatee, but it was thinner, and I could've probably gone without any facial hair on him.

Anyway, on the Cloud Car Pilot, I look at it two ways...  First that the OTC Pilot was a much more generic army builder, and so I like it better, but second that the TVC Pilot is a superior figure in MOST ways (except one).

I had the vintage Pilot and loved him...  I had him salute all the time with his goofy posed arm, and he was another one who would find himself in GI Joe adventures, somehow.  He was weird for the time too, coming with an extra accessory even though he was just a very, very background guy.

I kind of agree, the resculpt on him was probably less than necessary.  I appreciate Hasbro's effort to give us the mustache though, since the one maquette had it.  Also the articulation update is apprecaited.

My one issue with him though, is the lack of a removable communicator.  That's a pretty noticeable step backwards from the OTC figure, even if it seems minor to some.  The communicator is there on his belt, they thought to sculpt it, but not make it a separate accessory.  That sort of sucked.  I also found the massive change in the outfit a little odd/annoying.  It makes the OTC figure look out of place.  Why would the police from the city have different outfits, ya know?

My only other gripe I guess is that the paint is sloppy on my Vintage pilot...  The communicator looks like it should have a bit of paint detail that it is lacking all together.  Little stuff like that stands out.

One could also argue that the OTC pilot has the better pistol too, since it's an homage to the vintage pistol.  I'd argue that I think.  I mean, I liked the vintage homages on the last figure, more than this one.

I did buy a 2nd TVC pilot to put an OTC Pilot's head on, and then I'd like a 2nd Cloud Car, with 2 OTC Pilots in it as well, for the two that flank the Falcon as an escort.  I don't like dividing up the uniforms though, and genericness would've really, really helped this figure.

I'm hoping the ENdor Rebel gets re-used for some of the other Endor Rebel uniforms too, and "genericness" prevails there.

I liked the saluting thing, too.

So can the new Vintage collection pilot actually sit in the new Cloud Car?

A 'stache was pretty generic in the late 70's, early 80's.   ;)

True.  HIs is  more Clark Gable and less porn star, so that's nice.

I can get them to both sit well enough in the new CLoud Car, Scockery.  The OTC one's holster is a little prohibitive, but not enough to bother me.  He's fine.  The new TVC one's fine for sitting too.  He seems (obviously) more suited to actually riding in the CC though.

I really like how the new Cloud Car Pilot turned out. I'm using the OTC version and the new Vintage version in the new Cloud Car as well and they look great. I wouldn't be surprised to see a head sculpt variant get released at some point in the future...

Cloud Car Pilot has a funky outfit, distinguishing him from the rest. He was always ready to disco! And that drinking er.... saluting arm was weird, but again a nice variety.

I have Kenner's and the OTC and VTC one. Like Darth_Anton, I like the OTC one that much better.

Cloud Car Pilot was one of my faves as a kid.  I had three of them, but no cloud car.  I remember wishing that they were the Bespin security force instead of the blue waiters because I didn't like those uni's.  And I was doubly bothered that they made two versions of BSG but only one CCP.

Something about the stache on the new one bugs me.  I'm in the crowd that still likes OTC better.
