Awwh crap, it just had to be a cantina guy didn't it. Well I'm game for this one, it's actually not s bad, never hurts t have another tusken and I suppose I can just repaint the Fett into a new Mando. Here's hoping they're easy enough to find.

What's the difference between an Android and a Droid?

Androids have a humanoid form. Droids can mean any robot - human or non-human

Hey, I got the Tusken right!

Not crazy about getting another Fett. Repaint in Kenner colors at least...

I like how Luke and Obi-Wan seeing Snaggletooth in a bar makes him a villain.

In a better world, the third pack would be Hammerhead, Walrusman, Greedo in awesome Kenner colors. It would also retail for $9.99....hey, gonna dream, I'll dream big!

I'm too lazy to check - but are the pack descriptions new or are they the same descriptions that Kenner put on them back in 1978/1979?

So, big images, short answer: pretty close. Only thing changed are the size descriptors (missing in modern) and a some backdrop piece for the photo (also missing in modern).

Modern (photo (c) 2012 Rebelscum.com... just kidding, it's from Sandtroopers):

Classic:

Takeel looks very nice.  I wonder if they upgraded the Tusken's elbows?  This may be the first 3 pack I buy

Now Snags and Tuskens aren't "strange", because really...what isn't strange in the Star Wars universe?

Walrus Man always looks for trouble almost finds it with Luke. Losing the better part of an arm isn't "almost trouble."

Hammerhead talks to anyone that will listen...at last, a correct portrayal of a cantina drunkard.

Greedo (a money collector)...sent by a grocery clerks, to collect a bill.

I'm pretty excited for Snags...  Hope Tuskens arms are ball joints too, since that'd just be nice, but I liked that figure as it was.

The droid set I'm ok with too...  I can use two of the three.  R5 blows.  Fett blows.

I'll bite on the Snaggletooth set. I was gonna snag some DTF Tuskens but never saw them past the initial shipments, and new figs are always welcome. Fett will just go in the duplicate bin.

The Droid set I might pick up since I only have R5-D4. If this R5 is the old TSC version (based on the VOTC R2) with the proper painting on the panels, I'll happily snag the first one I see.

I wonder what the chances are of ol snags showing up on a vintage card before the lines up. I also wonder what the chances are of a variant blue version.

I am awaiting the inevitable "Blue" Snaggletooth variant in some form.  Yeah, I'm pretty excited for Snaggletooth myself.  They final got it through their heads they need a new figure in there for people to buy these.  Well hopefully it's enough to get people into them.  I want the Droid set mainly for the Death Star Droid.  The Power Droid is nice looking though.  I'd rather it look like the vintage one though.  I will leave the Android set on the pegs.  I love that Chewbacca sculpt though.

What figure, preferably something in a snazzy jumpsuit, could Hasbro use to cobble that together?  Not much without doing some retooling I guess, at least on the boots.

I've wanted a nice Blue Snags though for a while.  I really think it's doable too.  I have had my own idea of one, but I'd rather see Hasbro actually put some effort into one.

Now, that said, I think that will only happen if they look at "retro look" figures like doing a short snaggle with no shoes in a red suit, and a Walrus man in an orange and blue jumpsuit, etc.

I really, really, really would go nuts for those original aliens getting a modern update to the retro looks.  Nothing screen accurate, just modern updates of those original goofy cool costumes.  I'd be behind that idea as much as I was McQuarrie concept figures (which there's still a few of those I want too).  I'd pay premiums for those modern retro look figures, and knocking out the last handful of McQuarrie concepts I'd like to see done.

Yep - that's why I think were only getting two 3-packs this wave. Their packaging template has slots for three packs, so they had to put something there, and they chose that one.

Hopefully it doesn't mean the Android pack is coming out again though - that one did well in our area, but well compared to the other two sets isn't saying much.
