2011 Disney Star Tours Box Sets
« on: February 17, 2011, 11:40 AM »
Not one, but two new box sets to celebrate the opening of the updated Star Tours ride at Disney.

I love the box of droids (Hasbro said the suitcases do in fact open up to hold weapons, accessories, whatever), but I'm not sure if I'll pick up the top set.  I'd like to get one of those Stormtroopers (I think they called them Skytroopers) and Vader's little platform, but I'm not sure if it will be worth the price just for those two things.

Vader's big hover-segeway is interesting.

Glowstick bot!

This where those China ebay sellers come in handy...hopefully.

Utai and the airtrooper I want.

I really am liking the 2nd set - and I too am on the fence with the top set.

Yeah, so long as these aren't too outrageous, I probably wouldn't mind having at least the 2nd set.

The red and grey droid looks like something from Wall-E.

I like both sets, but I probably won't like the price...  And since they are probably only going to be available inside the Disney Studios and Disneyland (as opposed to Downtown Disney; I'll be going down to visit my parents this winter and we probably will visit Dt Disney, but not the parks..), I'll probably miss them.

I'm such a sucker for Stormtroopers with unique decos...  :-[

If you want to unload Vader w/Segway, I'll split that set with you, haha.

My guess is they will be $45 each and available in the World of Disney outside the park. The Enginears Toys in DCA will have them too. No rush to get them. When it comes to Disney stuff, they will always have them. If they arn't on display, they will be in the back somewhere.

The Star Tours Boarding Party is still available in and outside the parks for a reduced $35. Those "limited edition - sneak preview - only at CV" StarSpeeder 1000s are clogging up all three stores for $25.

Don't forget about the 3 3/4" scale Star Speeder 1000 Disney will have. THE MOUSE WANTS YOUR MONEY!

I may need to pick up the boarding party set.  I only wanted the Ewok mostly, and perhaps the employee dude, but $35's more reasonable.  I may even have to wait on getting these new sets till down the line and hope for a reduction.

Yeah, count me in for one of the Droid sets. That Vader/Fett set is a big pile of stink, but I'm assuming it's only being made because Vader and Fett play a role in the new Star Tours? (I know it's cheap for them to make too, since its all repaints, but still)

Kind of dig the stormtroopers. Might have to pick a few sets up if they look really good in person.

I like how these look (especially the droid set), but price is going to be a real factor here.

I just want the troopers from the 1st set. I'd like to get the second set though. And extras of the droid to 3PO's right (as you look at it, NOT the FLO repaint), as well as the Utai. And I'd like some extras of those luggage cases too.

I am wondering if there is a scale issue on the individual pictures in the 2nd pack.  To me, the droid next to the Utai looks like he was made to carry the suitcases.  But if the suitcases are as big as they are, or the droid is as small as he is shown, then to me, judging by the picture provided, it looks like the distance between the hands and floor wouldn't be big enough for the suitcases.

minor nitpick - but an observation.  but it could just be the pictures of course.

No, that droid is the new pilot droid.

That box goes something like this:
luggage, Docking Droid, Spokesbot Droid (Aly San San), C-3PO (your Star Tours Pilot), Pilot Droid (AC-38), and Utai Baggage Handler.
