I think the hardest part with my son is getting him to agree to open a playset.  Right now we've got several dozen unopened sets and when he compares his options he'll almost never pick a playset.

If we do pick a playset, he does enjoy putting it together and playing with it.  He did like the smaller Ewok/Speeder Bike set, and does like the elevator, spring loaded guns, etc. on the Death Star.

So, let's say a guy was going to pick up that Ewok Village set for his kids this Christmas.  What recent Endor sets would you guys recommend going back and tracking down now to go along with it?  Just thinking about grabbing them now and stashing them in case they go OOP by the Fall...

Yeah, I don't think any of those are available in stores anymore, although a few of them recently went OOP and can be had on eBay without breaking the bank too badly.

That endor bunker set is really nice.

I still see the Bunker and that one set with some warriors, traps and stuff, here and there.

If you have K-Mart stop in...  Or Sears Grand.  They sometimes have older sets hanging about.

Also, check toy shows and Craigslist.  For some reason, Craigslist has old Lego sets on it here all the time.  Not REAL old, but OOP and for retail or even less, probably bought on sale and wanting full retail now to net a little $.

The local Toy Show has Lego guys hanging around now all the time too, so I imagine any you guys have in MN would be similar.

Lego Star Wars IS indeed the superior Licensee at this point.  Sideshow's a close second with Hasbro (when they're making anything) close to SS I think.  Both those have heavy flaws.

I think if someone only was into Lego Star Wars stuff, they'd be a happy as hell collector though.

Honestly Jeff, with all of the stuff coming out in the Ewok Village, you're pretty much set on Endor stuff. The only other sets you would really "need" are the Battle of Endor (with the bunker and an AT-ST) and the Endor Soldier Battle Pack (which is still shipping to WM/Target/TRU). The Battle of Endor is out of production though, but since it hasn't been out that long it's only around $50 over MSRP online.

The other sets are older and I guess would have exclusive Ewoks if you're into that.

I saw Jabba's Sail Barge at TRU this weekend for the first time.  They actually had all of the newer sets in a LEGO feature section at the front of the store, except for this one, but had the Sail Barge back in the regular LEGO aisle.  I have to say, I was mighty tempted, but didn't really have the money (and should wait until it shows up at Target/WM anyway).  Pretty cool though.

The new Lego display at Target looks awesome.  Anyone know where these go when stores are done with them?

I saw this the other day too.  Very cool.  I'd love the display stand even if I couldn't get the contents in the display.

Usually those displays are sent back to LEGO. I've read stories about managers giving them away and LEGO reps heavily fining them for it.

What Diddly said...  That's the case on most displays actually unless the retailer specifies otherwise.  I suppose maybe they give them to employees or just destroy 'em?

I got an e-mail from Lego that if I wanted to, starting today, using my VIP account, I can purchase the Ewok Village.

Seriously thinking about it....  ;D

Read on Twitter from a follower that the Starhopper has started hitting Walmart. Anyone else seen it?

That's the first I've seen of it.  Cool looking set though!
