Wow, that sucks. I hope they resolve it for you quickly.

I received my Slave-1 today, but it arrived thrown in a box with some stuff my wife ordered for our daughter. The package was still slightly damaged, but I'm an opener, so it happened to work out for me. The toy itself was fine...aside from the wing situation.

Who approved this at Hasbro? I find it a bit discouraging that these shipped out without working correctly. I guess I have to locate some pen springs and take this sucker apart tomorrow. I'm glad to have an ESB Slave-1, but I hate having to correct faulty toy design.

I agree that people need to lash back at Amazon so they fix this issue...  Hopefully they'll get this straightened out and future Slave I orders will be fine.  I like amazon and like them having exclusives...  Every retailer is positive for competition and thus positive for us...  But they really need to do the right thing on packing.

That said, amazon picked up exclusives others passed on...  I'd rather have them in the game than not.

Spoke with Amazon CS again a few minutes ago and they have agreed to ship me a replacement Slave I (due here Thursday), and gave me a return label for the damaged version.  While I was speaking to the representative, I saw the news item on the front page of that otheR Site regarding Amazon making an official statement on the issue and relayed that information to the CS representative; whether or not the replacement will be shipped using that method is unknown, but I'm very happy with Amazon's Customer Service in trying to make things right.

I'll let everyone know how the replacement looks when it arrives Thursday; hopefully it will be a happy post from me (for a change). :)

I hope so too but if its bad I'd go right back at them.  They should've left prices at $100 if that's an issue.

Sounds good!

And I agree with Jesse, this is a blunder that Amazon will want to fix. It's too costly for them to continue to make this kind of mistake. It's better to have them in the market than not.

This is really going to keep me awake tonight, worried about the condition mine will arrive in.

Shipping and spring issues aside, this thing is a really, really welcome addition to my collection. I'm a bit giddy about it. I'm actually planning to do some paint weathering to it.

According to RS, this is being dealt with at Amazon by top men. Top. Men.

Weird thing for me, when the price went down, I checked my pre-order which was adjusted to the new, lower price. Just yesterday I check my delivery status and the price reflected the old $99.99 one. I called customer service who issued me a refund right then and there.

Delivery Confirmation text says my Slave I is waiting for me on my doorstep...  I can't wait to get home from work to see if the good Amazon packing fairy or the evil Amazon packing fairy sent my box out.

Slave 1 is currently unavailable at Amazon because of the packaging complaints. I'm guessing it will be for sale again once all of the refunds/returns/exchanges are sorted out, and after the warehouses are advised of proper packing and shipping. It's a shame something like this was allowed to happen AGAIN, but at least Amazon works to fix their issues.

Got mine this afternoon.  It was in the white mailer box, so the exterior had some protection.  There was a slight squish of a corner, but nothing horrendous to send it back... it'd be anal to do so since I'm an opener.

That actually doesn't look too bad for being shipped without an outer box, unless there is damage on the other side. Still totally unacceptable.

I got the "shipped in white mailer box" Slave I.  One corner is a bit stressed, but at least it doesn't have a giant shipping label stuck to the actual toy box.  Would have been nice to see them packed with an outer box, but I consider myself lucky at this point not to be among the no white mailer box, damaged box crowd.  :-\
