Totally agree...  Felt a lot of potential OT tie-in and build-up could've been done with TCW but was failed.  They touched on the Y-Wings, snuck Z-95's in at the end, but during the show's run they didn't do enough of the little things.

OWK and Ani's friendship, huge missed opportunity.  They went for the cheap one-liners and things like that, but failed to really explore that deeper connection that's implied, and could've been really exploited.  Using McQuarrie designs is allw ell and good but I feel like, once again, Lucas maybe meddled too much and Filoni may have been better left to his own devices.

Blame that 100% on Anakin having a never before seen or heard of Padawan for no real apparent good reason.  I still think that (and bringing Maul back) are two of the stupidest ideas in SW history.

I wound up liking Ahsoka but wish they'd not dubbed him a master and her a Padawan...  Why not just have her study under him some, but he's still a knight and she's still a Padawan ya know?  They went to Master, and it was lame.  Then he's still humpin' along with Kenobi as his Padawan and getting scolded in ROTS...  Made no sense there.

Maul, I never got past.  That was horrible.  He was cut in half.  Very lame story arc I felt, to bring him back.  Really just was terrible and they had other baddies they could incorporate...  Bounty Hunters in particular were more popular.  Assajj as well.  They had far better options.

We should just start listing everything Clone Wars did wrong as a series as we see it.  That could be one long thread I think.

This is still not what I want* but, meh, I'll certainly watch it. I was not excited about CW either but the first season and a half were a lot of fun.

The designs they showed look great but none of that means much if we wind up with stories about one-dimensional senators or school lunches. Keep it action-focused, give us a (very) few main characters we can get emotionally involved with, and give them a real character arc that doesn't have all the growth loaded into the final episodes.

...oh, and don't rely on Vader, that's a cop-out. He can appear, but give us a bad guy that can have just as much growth and revelation as the good guys.

* = What I really want is cartoons that follow young Luke Han and Leia in the years between ANH and ESB. I don't care what EU we've gotten from that era in the past, there will never be enough and I don't care if it all jibes with each other. Scratch that, it already doesn't so its a non-issue. I really scratch my head when some other non-movie series project is announced and its not set in this ripe area. [/end rant]

I lean away from the mains only because their stories would all 3 be so separate...  some one-off shorter arcs would be awesome though, like I mentioned above, that would feature things like Han saving Chewbacca, winning the Falcon, doing the Kessel Run...

What I'd like is to see this follow the war, and follow people involved in the war...  It's sad but The Clone Wars didn't do that steadily.  It deviated, and wound up losing the very thing it was based on at the start.  It began so promisingly as well, with things like the Echo/Fives/Shineys at the outpost...  or the Separatist "Bismark" arc...  They had really insanely good stuff early, then up and gone like a fart in the wind.  They then needed to focus on shoe-horning Darth Maul back to life and into the show, or things that were too kiddie...  or conversely, "political intrigue" or other plots too complex.  I honestly think Lucas came in and really **** all over the project.

This era, I really hope he is far from it.  He should be at this point, but he's still there looking to get involved I'm afraid.  I'm ready for new Star Wars from new people.

I just hope it doesn't have some main character who is there when all the big background stories happen, like your examples for Han, Jesse.  And then the next episode he's bullseye-ing wamprats with Luke, and then is on Alderaan or Coruscant wooing Leia, and then somewhere shooting craps with Lando in some seedy casino.

I hope it has an obscure character doing that instead. Wilrow Hood or Zutton or Ponda Baba. Just have some "Where's Walrusman?" moments.  ;)

Woooooo!  Can't wait just to see what it's going to look like as far as the animation style and whatnot.  See if it's dramatically different to Clone Wars, or if they're going to try to tie them together somehow.

Yay, I'm there. I'm sure with Filoni at the helm it will bear some stylistic resemblance to Clone Wars. I'm just curious who the major players will be. And of course, what the action figures will look like (eventually).

A little bit from The Official Site regarding the NYCC REBELS panel.
