Black Series 6" Holocomm Collection

The latest gimmick for Black Series - the Holocomm Collection.

From Hasbro PR:
"This morning Hasbro revealed a whole new way to collect The Black Series with the Holocomm Collection! These new figures allow collectors to receive transmissions from across the galaxy with fan-favorite characters featured in hologram-style deco. Each figure comes includes a holopuck which illuminates the figure from below (and those who hold the button on the puck will activate a 30-minute light display!) as well as a bounty chip with an Aurebesh inscription.  The characters included are: The Mandalorian, Han Solo, Axe Woves, Bo-Katan Kryze and Ahsoka Tano. Most of these figures are available for pre-order tomorrow and will arrive either this Fall or next Spring depending on the figure. "

Not unless they bring this to the 3.75" line.  I am BS6"-free these days...

Its a heckuva lot more interesting than chrome repaint and holiday versions, but I'm going to continue passing on most 6" figures. 

You would think they would have started with figures that were actually shown as holograms - Leia, Emperor, Maul, etc.  Their choices seem pretty random - Han, Axe Woves??

Yeah, I've heard some people say that these would be great for cosplay if they did Cody or Palpatine Order 66 scene.

I don't collect the 6" scale so i have no skin in the game. These are different enough to have a "cool" factor. Not $35 cool, but others might feel differently.

From what i believe of 6" buyers -- an opinion strictly based on what Hasbro designers have said; youtube; conspiracy theories; and Mel Gibson movies -- these will sell enough to be slightly profitable.

On the other hand, if Hasbro came out with these in the 3.75" line, I'd scratch my head bald and wonder why they wasted retailer slots on characters we haven't seen as holograms...as I'm writing Hasbro's team member's names on my torch and pitchfork.

This is definitely more creative than the carbonized line or the credit collection.  But the character selection is questionable.

I had to REALLY think about why this would work for Han Solo - until someone pointed out that the red lettering is "WANTED" in Aurrebesh.  It's supposed to be a bounty puck.  But we only ever see a couple of those in The Mandalorian.  We also saw a WANTED bulletin go out for Obi-Wan in the second episode of the OWK series - so it really would have made sense to offer Obi-Wan in this line if you're trying to be true to the entertainment.

I get that the characters are fairly high profile at this time.  But relevance would make these land better with collectors and fans who know the source material.

I have to wonder why we are not seeing more of these things at deep discounts or on clearance yet. Target is the only one so far to drop their price on this. I can’t imagine they are selling many at Walmart or GameStop. You can’t even find them in store.
