Tamashii (Bandai) S.H.Figuarts Star Wars Figures
« on: October 31, 2014, 12:40 PM »
Hmm... we don't have a thread for these yet?  Odd.  Now we do, I guess.   :D

In addition to the previously revealed Darth Vader and Stormtrooper figures, Bandai Tamashii Nations are planning ANH Han Solo and ANH Luke Skywalker figures too.

Han and Luke prototypes are apparently on display at the Tamashii Nations 2014 event at Akihabara, which is going on this week.  Despite all the NO PHOTOS ALLOWED signs surrounding the figures, pics are starting to pop up online

It's worth noting that the Tamashii Nations event is notorious for revealing/showing items that are NOT intended for release yet.  There are often prototypes displayed for informational purposes (highlighting figures that were sculpted but ultimately rejected for retail due to cost or other issues) or prototypes that are being displayed to gauge fan reaction in order to determine whether they should be released or scrapped.  Not saying this is for sure the case with Han and Luke, but you never know...

CollectionDX has posted updated pics for the S.H. Figuarts Darth Vader and Stormtrooper figures.

Still no pricing info yet, but it sounds like pre-orders should be going up soon...

A late report coming out of the Tamashii Nations 2014 event - apparently prototypes of  the following S.H. Figuarts figures were on display with NO PHOTOS ALLOWED signs:

- Another Han and Luke (NOT the ANH versions linked in the post above)
- Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker
- Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike
- Darth Maul vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui Gon Jin

Time to comb the web for contraband photos. ;)

Their Joker, Batman, and Harley Quinn are gorgeous...  I think I'm gonna blow Diane's son's mind with those pics this week.  He loves all things Batman.

I'm interested in these...  I don't really understand the difference though between these, and like those kit figures we've seen too that are available on pre-order places for fair prices.  I thought that Stormtrooper looked amazing, personally, and may order one.

The S.H. Figuarts figures are action figures.  High quality, fully painted, uber-articulated action figures.  The S.H. Figuarts are put out through Bandai's Tamashi Nations brand which represents their top quality figures for collectors.

The others, the 1/12 Vader and Stormtrooper are model kit figures.  Injection molded, cut it from the sprue and assemble it yourself, model kit.  Complete with water transfer decal kit and Tetoron sealant.  NOT for someone looking to open a package and stick a figure on a shelf.

OK, making sense...  The kit figures look really good, built and everything.  I can't imagine they'd be real complex.  I wonder if they'll jive well with TBS 6" stuff at all, or no.  I think that'll be really interesting to see.

I'm still tempted to buy one of those kit Stormtroopers just to have on a shelf...  I've opted out of 6" TBS stuff yet these figures could totally get me hooked in.

Yeah, these figures look better than anything offered by Hasbro or Mattel. I'll probably wind up importing some, but it'll be tough picking between the Bandai Vader and the Revoltech Vader with the funky ball joint cape.

Bandai SH Figuarts Updates!

- Darth Vader is due in April 2015; 5940 Yen
- Stormtrooper is due in April 2015; 4320 Yen
- Jedi Luke is due Summer 2015; price TBD

One of my favorite things about Tamashii Nations group is that they love making environment/set pieces to go with the SH figures...  check this out:

No detail yet other than it should arrive Summer 2015 too!

That display background is very cool!  I'll definitely have to look into it when I preorder my Vader.  Thanks for the update Jeff!

The preorder came up at HLJ for Vader and the Stormtrooper, but they're already pre-sold out!  I'm pissed I missed them.  Hopefully the BBTS prices aren't too ugly, it's way cheaper for me to buy from Japan because the Canadian dollar is much stronger against the Yen than the US dollar.

I've seen Tamashii do something similar with other brands.  Sort of like a "first run" will include the stand and then a second run will be Vader alone at a cheaper price...  wonder if that is the case here too.

Clicky!

Uh, yeah, they're even starting to tempt me, who vowed not to deviate from 4" scale stuff...  But that?  Holy ****.

If Hasbro wanted to bump figure prices to $15 for the 4" line, I'd be giddy to see them go this route.  Multiple scene-specific heads, hands, hyper articulated, crisp paint apps...  I'd pay 50% more for figures for that kinda stuff.

And these shame their 6" line, top to bottom.
