Poe's X-Wing Fighter with Poe Dameron

Very cool to see that this Poe has a removable helmet...

Like the TIE fighter, I'm in for this one.  Not too much else has grabbed my attention though.

Wow. I can't believe I'm down on just about everything tomorrow night has to offer, 3 3/4" wise. Going back to the vintage sized ships is weird. I get why they're doing it, I'm just not a fan. These items I won't be opening if I pick these up. I'll wait for larger scale versions so I can put them along side my current Imperial and Rebel fleets.

The owner hasn't opened them yet...18 hours later.

Toy geeks are weird. OPEN THE THINGS ALREADY.

Perhaps we should move all this to the POTF2 boards?
This is the way.

I have spoken.

I watched the unboxing video that the Official Site has streaming on YouTube.  And they unboxed the X-Wing.  It was kind of funny seeing the hosts from StarWars.com trying to assemble the vehicle.  And it was even funnier to see them try to shoehorn Poe Dameron into the cockpit!  They did manage to get the figure all the way in, but they did that off camera.

Not that this is ideal, but I put the single carded Pilot Poe Dameron figure into the vehicle and I've left he removeable helmet version standing next to the ship. The single carded version of Poe in his flight suit fits extremely well into the vehicle.

No

Such a silly question, guys.  After all, it took from 1978 to 2004 for us to actually get an X-Wing toy that had a functional droid socket.  So with that sort of schedule in mind we'll probably get a better version of Poe's Black Squadron X-Wing, with droid socket, come 2041 or so.  ;)

Poe's X-Wing was the primary item I wanted to get from this line and I rushed all over my area on Friday and Saturday looking for it, but the ship was nowhere to be found at retail in Central California, so I got one via Amazon.com.  Hard to say if all the running around looking for the X-Wing was truly worth it...

I'm still sort of mixed with it.  The toy captures the look of the new X-Wing and I like the look.  I like the vintage-style wing opening mechanism and the wings feel secure when in the opened position.  The cockpit was better-detailed than I expected and really has about the same amount of room as the larger OT X-Wing tooling.  I like the use of clear plastic for the rear canopy and the fact that the canopy opens correctly.  The rubbery parts are very annoying, but easy to correct by soaking in hot water to straighten them out.  I like the Poe figure, but it is a bit large and so I have a different, smaller, pilot in the seat until I can find one of the carded Poes. As many others have said, I wish Hasbro went with the larger size for this ship.  They could have easily done it...  The current toy just sits low and looks smallish.  But this is a kids toy first and a collector's item second.
