So EA is having loot crates that you can buy in in-game currency which gives you power ups like less damage, more health, etc or you can just buy them outright.

So it's basically pay-to-win.
This is the way.

Hey like politics!   ::)

Seriously though, that's some lameness.  As ****** a cash grab as their maps were.  It'll make some MP unbearable I'm sure.  If I get this it's for the campaign and story.  Piss on the MP from them.  Still doesn't impress me.

Got an invite to the Beta and played a match or two. It's a lot different from the first one. Hard to really say anything since I haven't done much. There will be a LOT more customization in the weapons.

Sounds (from what I hear) they're trying to fix the fumbles from BF1...  campaign has my attention, but short of a really good price early like some games get for black Frida and things, I'm gonna wait I think.

Do wanna play that campaign tho.  Cutscenes alone look like a fun story.

All that is available in the Beta is a Walker Assault style multiplayer level on Naboo, droids vs clones. Kind of weird hearing the droids with Clone Wars/ROTS voices in Theed. There are different "Classes" of soldiers to choose from, the standard soldier with the blasters from the films, heavy assault troopers, officers, and snipers, and the more points you get allow you to unlock bonus "cards" like special bombers and such.

Anybody seen a decent comparison (or can articulate it here) on the differences between the standard and deluxe versions?

From what I can tell you get the following extras with the $20 extra Deluxe edition:
  • Access to download three days early
  • Upgraded versions of all 4 trooper classes (Officer, Assault, Heavy, and Specialist)
  • 4 epic ability upgrades—one for each trooper class
  • Exclusive Star Wars : The Last Jedi outfits for Kylo Ren and Rey

Is that it?

EA has been less than coy that there wil” be “holiday” pricing on this before year’s end. Buyer beware.

Because their market plan is to spihon money from games with micro-transactions.

Speaking of, EA's response to microtransactions is now the most downvoted comment in the history of Reddit

My copy is scheduled to arrive from Amazon tonight!

Never got around to pre-ordering this and now I'm glad I didn't. Procrastination wins the day again! :P

Going to wait until they get past all this, figure out the loot crate/paywall/playwall stuff, and fill out the game a bit before I even think about buying in.

WHAT A SHOCKING SHOCK, Amazon failed to deliver my order on time. This has happened to legit every order I've made with them this year. What do I even pay for Prime for?

Looks like I'm NOT playing this today after all.

Make sure to complain.  You should get $10 without much hassle.

Ok, game got here today. I played for about 2 hours tonight, 1 hour of single player campaign and an hour of online multiplayer. Campaign mode is... slow, I guess I would describe it so far? Visually, it's amazing. There weren't even enough players online to play a full 40 person game, so I did a few 16 person games where the pay to win aspect was definitely present, in that people had better weapons, could go undetected on radar, etc.

I need some time to get used to the game system. Call me crazy but I kind of miss the random chaos from the last one. Maybe it will pick up when the game is mass released.

This is really distressing to hear. This game has so much potential, but I think EA really dropped the ball with so much pay to play stuff.  It's almost like getting a game on your phone, only to discover if you want to actually play it you have to pay for the upgrades.

I've wondered why EA wouldn't just release the game at say an $80 price point and then it includes the upgrades.  I imagine a lot of casual gamers are going to be turned off by the pay aspect.  I know, I'm only a casual gamer, so I won't spend a dime beyond what it takes to make the initial purchase.

Yeah but that game on your phone was free!  This thing is still gonna cost ya $60!  Well, till sales anyway.  I’m officially tapping out on this till steep discount.  The SP is all that appeals to me through a friend told me the MP, besides the pay aspect, is tweaked to be a little more like Classes in other similar FPS games.

Still my only serious draw is sp and playing immediately isn’t important to me like with some other games.
