I haven't seen any images, do the figures look like they will be SA or 5POA?  If it's the former, I am going to go broke! ;D

The figure that was shown in the panel presentation was the Walmart Black Series Rey on a TVC card.  The press info released says "highly articulated" so not 5POA.  5POA line will most likely continue in some form alongside TVC in 2018.

Super happy to hear this news this weekend. Like everyone else, I loved the vintage line and look forward to its return. I wish it was this fall instead of next spring, but oh well. I'm curious to see if this will be the "main line" like it was in the TVC days or if it will be more limited like VOTC/VTSC lineups. Will it take the place of the deluxe lines? Will 5 POA still be the regular main line?

Either way, great news. I do find it kind of funny how many comments I've read elsewhere where everyone is suddenly more than happy to pay $15-$20 for these. I remember people complaining when VOTC went to $10 and that was the "ceiling". Maybe Hasbro are secretly geniuses by taking this away and making people willing to pay $5 more now 😉

I'm hoping they group the waves into movies, kind of like how they did it during the legacy era.  Would be nice for there to be a Rogue One Wave, TFA Wave, Last Jedi Wave, etc.
This is the way.

That would be cool, any maybe they will with all these new movies to draw from. If it went back to the format it was in of like 6 figures or so from each film with some mains, an army builder or two and a couple obscure aliens from each movie, I'd bounce off the ceiling. This sort of concentrated wave is probably the only way we'll get certain characters. If it follows the Wal-Mart arrangement then I doubt highly we'll see much in the way of obscurity. Very curious to see how the final poll turns out.

That's why I'm holding all my excitement until we know more.  I want to believe and I want to be excited, but the other half of my brain is worried that a TFA wave would just be the 8 Walmart Black Series figures on vintage-style cards for $13.  I can't say I'd be too jazzed for current $6 clearance figures to be on fancy cards for $13.

IF however, a TFA Wave was announced with SA versions of General Leia, Luke, Takodana Han, Flametrooper, Ello Asty, and Lor San Tekka....  then I'll be more than happy to jump on the overly-positive bandwagon. ;)

HAVING FUN? That's not what collecting is about!

I dunno...themed waves can clog retail...like say, an all Episode 1 wave. But that's the worst case scenario.
Still, if there were a Phantom Menace wave.
-Naboo Royal Security
-Pilot Battle Droid
-Kitster (they'd never include Wald, maybe a pit droid, though)
-An/Tan Gella (two seperate cards, same figure...feel the collecter ire!)
-Captain Tarpals
-Tey How

I completely agree.  I think there needs to a mix between different movies with a mix of army builders, carry forwards, all new "mass appeal" figures, and more collector niche figures.

Scott, people are itching to do lists again!!  ;)

One thing I'm happy about is that Romodi is official (and has lines in Rogue One), so I feel I am not squandering a vote on one of the Death Star Conference guys that sit there, say nothing and are seen in maybe two quick shots.

Looks like Hasbro is going to show some more TVC stuff at Hascon this weekend...  including a new TVC Supreme Leader Snoke:
