TLJ 3.75" Resistance Ski Speeder w/Poe Dameron
« on: July 21, 2017, 10:20 AM »
Images at Yakface while they last...  pulled from a UK online shop that has already taken the page down it seems.

Not a surprise to see this in toy form...  still think it's funny that Han, Cassian, and Poe all seem to shop at the same clothing store. :P

Also - no NERF? I didn't hate the nerf the way some did, but I won't miss it if it's gone.

Pass. For me it's NERF OR NUTHIN'.

Actually, I just don't understand what a ski speeder is. If it can hover or fly, why bother with skis?

It does look a bit cobbled together, and that cockpit screams surplus B-Wing parts.

I thought these looked kind of cool in the teaser.  I agree with Nick about the cobbled together look.  Points more to how the Resistance isn't all that well funded in TFA.
This is the way.

Saw the pic and the toy looks impressive and nicely sized.  I'm also kind of perplexed on the design but I have faith it'll make some sense...  or at least to me it will.   :-\

I get the sense that may play into the plot of TLJ.

Here's a YouTube review of the actual product (not mine)...  It looks cooler than I thought - sort of a cross between a B-Wing and a Podracer :P  Definitely looks to be worth getting!

I picked one of these up on Friday, but still have yet to open it...  I kind of want to see how they function in the movie.  The box description gives a little blurb about the speeder, saying they predate the Rebellion (so they're old) and that the ski helps provide stability.  But with repulsorlift technology seeming to have been in common use in the SW universe for thousands of years, I wonder why a stabilizing ski would be needed for anything other than an interesting Hollywood effect.  Still, the toy looks neat and has some fun features like a "blow off" wing section, so I think I'll be happy with it.

So what was the point of the Ski Speeder other than to fly as close as possible to the battering ram and shoot it's little laser down it's throat? Never saw the point of them. They were really easy to take out.

I didn't mind the speeders, because I understood they had to do something on Crait, but I would liked to have seen them do a little more. I fully expected them to attempt to tie up a walker like the snowspeeders did in ESB, only for the Gorilla Walker to cut the cable. The sequence was outstanding in a lot of ways, but the ski speeders disappointed. A little.

I took the speeders to be an analogy for the Resistance. The little bit that was left with really nothing they could do against the First Order

That's a good way of looking at it.  The Ski Speeders weren't able to do anything except buy the Resistance some time.  But only a few Resistance pilots recognized that it was time to retreat and escape, like Poe and Rose.

Luke made the ultimate sacrifice with his Force projection by stalling Kylo Ren and the First Order so the remaining Resistance personnel could escape on the Falcon.

Yeah. It kind of sucked they literally did nothing. I thought maybe with them hitting the salt that was going to blind the FO somehow and then the speeder could utilize something to bring down a Walker. Nope. It just isn't that exciting of a ship. I liked the visuals in the movie with the red, but again the vehicle does zilch. I am not into buying it. Especially when they don't make a gorilla walker.
