6" Black Series "Blast Effect" Stormtrooper

From out of the blue comes a crazy new Black Series 6" figure - Stormtrooper with Blast Effects - found at TRU in Hong Kong.

No word yet on how this will be made available in the USA. (Nor any word on if this is a one-off or maybe the start of a new sub-line?)

It looks like a kitbash of the Amazon battle damaged trooper and those centerpiece sets. Pretty weak effort in this case, but the idea itself isn't terrible.

Reminds me of that TRU Greedo/Han 2-pack that would have been so much better if it had been an actual chair from the Cantina...

This is pretty cool and all, but it makes me wonder why Hasbro doesn't just rehash other figures in special packs like they do in the 3.75 inch line. Not counting the 40th Anniversary Collection, the only 6 inch figures I can think of that have seen rereleases/repaints are the Stormtrooper, Sandtrooper, Clone Trooper, and the Han/Greedo Cantina set, and surely there aren't too many people army building 6 inch figures?

I saw a post from DorksideToys about this piece.  They inquired with Hasbro and were told that this Deluxe Stormtrooper is exclusive to Asia.

Well, I guess that makes sense in light of all the other Asian exclusives there have been in this line, wait- er...huh?

Pretty annoying if true. They should have at least made some available to HTS or one of the online retailers.

I wonder if this was supposed to be a global TRU exclusive that got redirected to an Asian exclusive when TRU imploded.

Not sure I really want this, but it would be nice to have the option to buy this.  I wonder if EE or someone else will manage to get access to quantities of this.

Hmm, do airlines offer wholesale pricing on flights? We could go to Japan to pick this up, then get some SH Figuarts figures while we're there

So this figure set is now listed on ToysRUs.ca.

TRU Singapore, TRU Canada...  but no love yet for USA thanks to TRU-USA's demise.  I guess he's in limbo with TRU 6" Zuckuss and some other TRU exclusives.
